I have not found this bug mentioned. During my campaign (no mods just the CA released patch) Playing as Julii, a Numidian city I had conqured and only enslaved many turns earlier, rioted, and then revolted. I did not have an army too close so it would be several turns before I could get my force there.

During a turn, my army was about 3 turns away from the city, so with my army selected I put the cursor over the Numidian city where I get the sword icon, and right clicked to move. During the movement my army runs in to a single Numidian unit (hidden earlier by the fog of war) that was standing in the road, as I run in to it, my army does the attack motions, and then the window that pops up is the Siege/assault window for attacking the city!!!!

So, having seige equipment with my army, I choose to assualt, low and behold, as I choose fight on the battle map, I am now battle at the city in a city assualt.

I've seen this bug. Happened to me in Athens. Only I couldn't assault as the intervening army was in the way. I had to use another army to get rid of that one. Now my besieging army was two hexes away but carrying out a siege. I didn't have siege gear in my army so after building it "in situ" I attempted to storm the city...but my siege gear was nowhere to be found. ~ Perhaps it was lying about two hexes back? I had to take the loss and try again the following turn. :veryangry:

I was able to assualt and even take the city. I had intended to hold a seige a bit to let Legionary Cohort units show up from the North (the army I had moving to seige was made up of Principii still) but I went with the fight anyway. Took about 60% casualties in my army but took the city, and it placed my army in the city. Very strange.

The only thing is I do not know if the unit that I ran in to while on the move is still out there (thanks to fog of war) or if it was placed as part of the city defenders.
