choosing type of weapons

Lets say you have an army consisting of one unit of regular cav and 4 units of horse archers plus infantry. WHen the enemy breaks the horse archers are almost as useless as the infantry because they cant hack down the enemy like regular cav. I think there should be an icon were you could choose if you wanted to attack with swords or by arrows

hold down the Alt key to use a units alternate attack. ie causes hastati to charge with swords instead of throwing javelins

If they have a secondary weapon, they'll use it. Otherwise, keep your HA away from stronger cav.

This is only a last resort though. HA suck at hand-to-hand, except when they're running down hapless routers.

They can be good though when you have a full HA army and you have enough to totally encircle them. Then it's fun to charge all your HA's, firing all the while and attacking from all sides ~:cheers:
