Does anyone have this one yet? The original HoI was labelled as a buggy piece of crap but so far there have been 6 patches and apparently this edition includes a much enhanced AI. This is the only Paradox game I don't have yet (and I love all the others) because of the atrocious reviews when the original came out. I'd like to know whether this edition is worth buying as Paradox has a good patching reputation.

If you don't have the original patched, then buy this. It comes patched and with the CORE mod installed. There was a patch or that released after Pt edition was released though. Or you could wait for HoI2(Jan 4 NA and scandinavia), which the betas claim to be nearly bug free.

Ignore him. You won't regret buying it, espcially if you play pure core. And there are other mods, like the great war.

HOI one is good now, what im saying is HOI2 will be buggy when it comes out, well it will be if paradox haven't changed their style, i recommend buying it from paradox itself, www.paradoxplaza.com , all the money you spend will go straight to paradox that way and trust me paradox games are excellent even with their little bugs, you might also want to try victoria, which is another game by paradox, but its alot more economy based then military based.
thanks,

Like I said, I already have every other Paradox game out there, so that includes Vicky.
I have bought HoI Platinum. I don't think it's nearly that complicated as the reviews I read suggested. The economic system is quite simple really (at least compared to Vicky it is). It does seem to simulate the situation well, besides the world market.
The only downside I see so far is the limited control you have as a player as too much is scripted by events that "direct" down a certain path(ie the options of the events aren't really fair, as Germany you would be an idiot not to support Franco as it gives you loads of free tech, the Anschluss event also annoyed me).
Oh yeah, and the interface is total crap too...
But from a strategic point of view it's great!

Oh yeah, how do you get countries to join your alliance: states like Hungary, Romania and Italy constantly turn me down altough they are just as fascist as me. ~

YOu don't want Italy on your side. They can't fight for themselves. As for the others, wait until France has fallen. That should persuade them. Yeah, now that you mention it the world market suchs and it is the simpliest game released by paradox, or so I'm told.
