We've done pizza and all the usual suspects, so how about baked potatoes?

Mine would have to be cheese and beans; great big heaps of cheese with some chives mixed in, placed on the potato and then back in the oven until all the cheese is thoroughly melted. Dump it on the plate and spoon some baked beans with freshly ground black pepper over the potatoes, and a few on the side of the plate. Mmmm.

Can't you tell a frog is getting fed up of doing the same old baked potato recipe over and over, even if it is delicious?

Are you bored Miss Frog?

I'm not a big fan of baked potato's myself, much prefer salad with balsamic vinegar.

:shocked2: Until now I have never encountered another person who did not like baked potatoes, and now I have discovered a whole pocket of them! Blimey.

Bored, no ... well yes, but only of doing the same recipe over and over.

I like grated sharp provolone and crumbled bacon topped with sour cream. Nothing like taking a healthy food and turning it into an artery clogging nightmare. Caviar sounds intriguing, I will have to try that one.

Baked Potato must have Chili (ultra spicy), bacon, sour cream, jalapenos, rice and maybe some soy sauce.

I think they call this "twice-baked" potatos, where they bake the potato, take out the insides, mash 'em, then stuff 'em back into the skin and bake a little longer. At least that's how I do them. With bacon, cheese, bacon, sour cream, and bacon. And a small salad on the side, so I know I'm eating right.

I like butter with salt and tonnes of it.

Also a salad or blend with pieces of ham, onion and creme fraiche and salt and pepper.

and I love baked potatoes.

Baked potatoes... go well with a steak, some green salad, plenty of butter... A simple light lunch that...

If the potato's to be the focus, then... oh I dunno... what'd be good... I'd go for everything, butter (of course), cheese (bring a selection), bacon (crisped and crumbled), baked beans (wouldn't be the same without it), I even like coleslaw! Add as many herbs etc. as seems appropiate. Sausages would go nicely on the side - pick your favourite.

Thing is, it is a baked potato, one can only get so elaborate with it.

Chopped up cooked Cumberland sausages, baked beans, some sliced raw mushrooms and a good dose of black pepper. If the topping is all mixed up in one pan and heated together then spooned over the potatoes it works better than it might sound. Not bad, but lacking the amazingness that is cheese.

Twice baked potatoes with cheese, mmmm. Love them, melted cheese buried inside the potato, then more cheese on top, and finally some beans or brown sauce or something.

Let's see... Butter, Salt, Pepper, Minced Garlic, Sour Cream, Chives, cheese; cheddar and maybe monteray jack, mushrooms, black olives, bacon, sausage, i'm sure i'm forgetting something but oh well that's enough for starters

oh but no chili i don't like to drown out the natural flavor of the potato itself ~D

Well Lady Frogbeastegg, I prefer my baked potatoes either: In the way you first described, or in the following method:
I cook them twice baked as so, and I add various kinds of shredded cheese when I am done so that it's a cheesy potatoish sort of dish... ~D and then mix it up, and add more cheese :charge:

Just butter - not the fake oil based stuff - but good old fashioned heart clogging butter.

You might think me strange, but I generally like to just have them plain, with shedloads of pepper.

However the best way to eat potatos is sliced thin and then fried with onions with a dash of season salts in lots of bacon grease. ANother heart clogging meal - but oh so good.
