Royal Pikemen

Ok whenever I use The Royal Pikemen I almost certainly lose a hell of a lot of them from crappy units. Why are they so weak? They were suposed to be elite.

A group of tripple gold pesants could whip the asses of a fresh unexperianced group of legionary cohorts.

check the experience of your enemy before u fight.

yeap, exactly that. its represented by how many gold, silver or bronze medals they have next to the units pic.

Experience bonuses give attack and morale buffs to the units that get them. Why do you think that CA went to the trouble of making temples lines that do nothing but give experience bonuses. I think it goes 1 chevron= attack +1, 2 chevrons=attack +2, 3 chevrons=attack +2 morale +1 that is just my experience with bronze I have no clue what happens when you go into silver and gold XP. My basis for this theory comes from my last campagin as Macedon. In Thessalonica I built the ares temple, in Larissa I built the Zeus temple. When I got to the point of building Macedonian cavalry I did a side by side of the stats of the units that would come out of each city. Each city had an armourer so they had bronze level weapons upgrades. And the Macedonian cav units that could be built in Larissa had an attack of 10 while the ones from Thessalonica had an attack of 12. :duel:

on the battlefield, i think u can check the valour of each troop by counting how many 'small' squarish flags its got, apart from the larger unit banner. i was noticing that when i keep on seeing these strange small flags on generals and family members. keep an eye out for those. ~;)

Besides royal pikemen dont use a long pike as phalanx pikemen so they dont do that good in alot of fights againts hoplites especialy
