View Full Version : Camera strafing
Is there anyway to bring back the camera control to the way it was in MTW where the camera strafes left and right when in the center sides and rotates in the corners. The total war camera does not work like it does in MTW
I know it strafes at the bottom right and left but still does a partial rotation before it strafes and I hate using the keyboard for a good strafe. Anyone else find MTW's camera easier to control?

in the battle press esc, then go to camera options or display option. there you can choose between three kinds of camera. the general restricted, the RTW and the old MTW camera option

The totalwar camera will not strafe either. There is not much difference between the rtw and totalwar style cam
There's a way to do it, but it's kind of annoying. Change the camera controls to 'FPS style' in the options and it uses W,A,S,D to move the camera-and strafes on A and D! Alas, the downside is that it also remaps a bunch of keys like Fire At Will and things like that.
Edit: Err, oops. I should read posts properly before replying...
As far as I know, there's no way to do it. It annoyed me for a while, but I got used to the camera eventually. I certainly did find the STW/MTW camera much easier to control, and wish I could use it here.

actually you can use the MTW camera style as i mentioned. the difference between the new style and the old is for my personal opinion quite big. i had big problems playing with the new style in RTW untill i discovered the option. and as far as i can remember you could strafe in MTW when moving the mouse to the lower edges but its some time ago so i could be wrong though ~:)
In S & M ( :whip: ) the bottom third of the sides strafed the camera.
In RTW (TW camera setting) the strafe is only in the section where the command panel shows.
Its a pain, as the bottom third was more intuitive & generally required less mouse movement.
