View Full Version : Adding Aetolian an Achaean Leagues to Greeks. Question to experienced modders.
Hi,
After adding quite a few provinces tho the Greeks I came to the conlcusion that the Greeks are now way to powerfull.
So I came up with the idea of splitting the Greeks into 3 different leagues, which is actually historically accurate. So I want to split them into The Greek_cities, The Aetolian League and The Achaean League. They were al enemies of each other.
Now I heard that is is possible to add new factions by sort of cloning another faction.
Is this true, and how easy is this. Well it wont be easy of course...but that doesn't matter really.
Or do you have some other suggestions to do this.
Of course I could also rename 2 other factions (Spain for instance) but then I also have to totally adjust building and unit tech trees. That would almost take just as much time I think.
So, any suggestions are more then welcome.
Thanks.
Gillian
I was thinking of doing the same thing but didn't want to begin work on this until after the patch is released.
The quickest and easiest thing for you to do would be to clone the Greek City States and use them as the model for the Aetolian and Achaean Leagues. No need to create new tech trees or units until you've worked out the kinks. To keep some balance you should try to have about two provinces for each league. The default map is a bit limited for this kind of mod though. USMCNJ's MoreCities mod is excellent and should give you an idea of how Greece should look but I think he went a little overboard with the number of cities he added to the map. Some areas like mainland Greece are simply overcrowded with provinces.
Technically Athens, Sparta, Syracuse, Pergamon and Rhodes should all be their own independent states with no relations to either league.
Good luck!

But know I'm wondering, how do you proceed with cloning a faction.
How does this work? What is an easy way to do this, do I need to make a new faction symbol etc etc.
Could you, or someone else, explain to me how to proceed? ~
Thanks!

It is not possible to add new factions. Perhaps in the future....

Bummer!
Okay, what about renaming two factions, lets say Spain and pffff Scythia or something.
I know how to rename them, but then of course they also need to have Greek types units, spies, diplomats, builings etc.. and what to do about their old units I wont use then anymore, give them to slaves?
How should I do that then? Is there an easy way for this?
Bedankt!
Thanx!
