After I think on CA's policies in the past I think I know what will be the Add-on on Rome: Total War ->
http://www.sorenz.dk/King%20arthur%20poster.JPG
They'll make a Detailmap of Britain, northern France and north-west Germany. Factions will be Pictish, Irish, Romano-Britons, Saxons, Pagan-Britons and Rebels.
The Romano-Britons will be mixture of current romans and current britons in RTW, like Tharce is a mixture of Greeks and barbarians in RTW.
King Arthur will look like this:
http://home.accglobal.net/~707727/images/king_arthur/king-arthur-movie-lg-01.jpg
For the normal RTW-Campaign there will be few new Units and features.

What would they call it? Rome: Total Excalibur?
If CA did an expansion with this as its central theme I would send a week's worth of my dog's fecal deposits to their main office in England.
Anything that claims relevance to that incredibly s----y movie deserves nothing less.

Woops, i voted for the option 'i don't think they would, but i love it'. I would hate for them to make an add-on based around that crappy fairytale of a story. The romans left britain just before the empire collapsed, so arthur's 300 year old roman armor would be a bit rusty by then.

Naaaaah, of course they won't do that :cool2:
Hahaha and so on...
But if they _do_...... :brood:
They've already done an add-on taking place in Britain, it is very unlikely they do it twice in a row.

I'd love it if someone made a decent movie loosely based on that concept, though!
The movie was soooo poor. But would be fun.
And I also hate the movie for turning my ancestors into the evil people again. What does Hollywood have against the English?! :(

I don't know what hollywood has against us, but whatever it is, they're dicks. And the movie was poor. Couldn't they have just stook with the original more realistic tale?

Too right!! When are we going to get a decent movie about Hengist & Horsa, King Redwald, Alfred the Great, Beowulf, or Harold Godwinson? Usually we just get either:
1) English = bad guys
2) ENGLISH blamed for the misdeeds of the BRITISH :furious3:
Anglo-saxon rant over. ~:grouphug:
Personally I think CA would be a lot more likely to go down the Hunnic route if left to their own devices for the expansion. Everything we have seen from them indicates that they do care about producing a well-researched game rooted in history. The only competing factor is the drive to sell, and this might push them towards something "flashier", e.g. Arthur/Riothamus. As far as I know, the new Arthur movie didn't do too well, so maybe this will dissuade them!
Personally I'd love to see them make a prequel focused on the conquest of Italy, struggles against the Etruscans etc., but I'd happily settle for Hunnic Invasion or Gothic Invasion.
The film was bad, but it was nice to see an attempt to show something other than the usual daft Chivalric Arthurian legends.
Lucius Artorius Castus, played by Clive Owen in the movie, was a prefect in Legio VI Victrix which guarded Hadrian's Wall, at a point in his career when his expected rank would be prefect alae, ie. commanding cavalry auxilia. During this posting the Picts invaded and the VI Victrix fragmented and mutined after the Picts killed their legate, allowing the invaders to ravage the lands on the eastern side of the Pennines. However, the prefect in charge of the fort at Bremetennacum (modern Ribchester), where many Sarmation cavalry were based, managed to keep order on the western side. After the invasion was repelled the officers of the VI Victrix were either executed or in effect exiled to remote posts. Unlike what happened to his peers, Castus was promoted to Dux of the cavalry in Britain, making it all too possible that he was the prefect who commanded the fort at Bremetennacum.
So if they wanted to explore the theory that Lucius Artorius Castus is the ultimate origin of the legend of King Arthur, it should have been a Pictish invasion in the movie and not time travelling Saxons. Of course, we can't have that in Hollywood, since the Picts are from Scotland and that makes them Scottish, right? Oh, and the Saxons, well everybody just knows that means Anglo-Saxons, making them the evil English. Yey! It's Braveheart again! *sigh* Damned Hollywood.

I saw that movie the other. Its ok.
I could not work out why the Saxons where attacking from the north of Harian's wall. Why would they sall from south Denmark/Northen Germany to the north of Britain they fight though a wall and forts?
A Hengist and Horsa movie would be cool, but hollywood would mess it up and make them look bad. :furious3:
"Germans? Good Guys? No that can't be right."-Some hollywood producer when he looks at the script.

Well had Hollyweird simply renamed the movie 'Troy' to 'Beowulf' you would have had your Northern European epic (albeit a bad one). With the exception of Eric Bana 'Troy' featured the most celtic/aryan looking Greeks I've ever seen!

Just that. But they at least make Movies on King Arthur and British Literature, we germans only appear in Movies as Targets for beeing killed by the Heros. English Caracters in Hollywoodmovies can at least speak like human beeings!
But on the Add-on, believe me that they'll hack something. At least that the Huns will be a Clone of the "Golden Horde".

My grandmother is from Germany. Nord-Westphalia I think the state is called. She gets upset and angry about the amount of programs with Hitler in and that the Germans tend to be bad guys in everything (except the Sharpe books,eg Captain Lossow of The Kings German Legion).
EDIT: Spelling mistake
north rhine-westphalia (wierd translation, north westfallen sounds better) actually, my family is from there to! (well, my mothers side anyhow) ~:)
wheres the I dont care what the context as long as it involves battles and killing
I mean wheres the GAH!

Yes, thats the place. I also have relatives who live there.
Back on topic. I don't CA would make that type of add on. It would be cool to have the Anglo-Saxon invasion in Britain, if was historically accurate.
I suppose Rome would be too powerful in post Augustus campaign.

I agree, she does have some odd ideas about the past.
She once told me that brown people would take me away if I did not behave. This made me think that poo people where going to come out of the toilet and get me, thus I became scared of toilets for while.
She said that my parents would die if I did not do well at school.
She once hit me with a wooden spoon.

I think your grandmother fails to notice that hitler allowed the extermination of millions of peoples from ethnic minorities. Anyways, i would like to know why hollywood always portrays the bad guys in their movies as having british accents? (or german accents). I understand why they have bad guys with german accents (however shaky that reason may be) but why british? What did we do?

I think your grandmother fails to notice that hitler allowed the extermination of millions of peoples from ethnic minorities.
She knows it happened and thinks that hitler went too far. When she thinks about hitler she thinks about the pre-war stuff, getting presents from the state and Germany being saved. Everything after that she thinks was a bad idea.
She does not like seeing hitler and WW2 stuff on TV and in newspapers, because it like putting salt in a wound.
as for add ons, i'd say probably;
-punic wars
-alexander
-possible dark age/fall of rome - though it would stretch the time scale massively...

As to the topic, if they made that into an expansion, they'd have to call it Rome: Total Bull...
... Warriors  - I have faith in CA that they won't, though

Judging from what most people want, it is prolly gonna be fall of rome, with hunnic invasions of rome.

Well IF I HAD TO DESIGN SUCH AN ADD-ON (Run away, most of my foolish posts begin that way) I would rather do this:
- New Units for the Original Game
- New historical Battles
- Some Bugfixes
- Fall of Rome Campaign ( 300 A.D. - 500 A.D. )
~Mini-Campaigns~
- Alexander Mini-Campaign
- Caesar Mini-Campaign
- Hannibal Mini-Campaign
By searching through CA's Files, I found out they originally wanted to make an additional "Caesar in Gaul"-Campaign with a detailmap of Gaul and northern Italy. Also the "Sons of Mars"-Campaign, the Tutorial, has an own Map.
So I would say the should make some Mini-Campaigns dedicted to those three most famous Leaders of the Era. The Caesar Campaign can be made just like they wanted it to be, you'll have the War against Gaul and then the roman Civilwar Caesar-VS-Pompey.
Hannibal will be the easiest, they can use the "Sons of Mars"-Map and put Hannibal into the North of Italy having captured some Cities and field a huge Army. There you can try out if you can capture Rome.
Alexander will be difficult, the Map should only show the east of the current Imperial-Map. Just having the Macedon-unified Greece, Egypt and Persian Empires on the map which will be captured by Alex.
--------
Compromise which is realisticially to realise for CA and hits all wishes of the Community.
