Anyone seen this German series about the Germanic tribes (Teutons, Vandals, Goths, Franks,...) and their interaction with the Roman empire? I think it is pretty good but I missed a few episodes and would like to know whether it's available on video/DVD preferably in english (but german will do as well).

The word vandal that is used today comes from them since they would reack havoc and "vandalize" cities as they put it. Kind of like the word Vietnamization used during The Vietnam War.

Vietnamization? Never heard of it. An American word or an English one? (count as two languages to me)

Its American. Its a term President Nixon(well he was a candidate for presedency at the time.) used in a campaign speech. Its a word used to describe his plan for ending The Vietnam war. What he wanted to do was slowly withdraw troops from The War, but continue fighting so they would withdraw with honor http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/rolleyes.gif. At the time it wasn't a word, but now its considered one much like vanadlize became a word as described above.

IE. get the Vietnamese to fight their own war and remove Americans who shouldn't have been there in the first place.

I have seen a German series on these tribes under "ZDF Expedition" (a weekly 45min. Program on historical issues). If you were referring to those you may want to look at www.zdf.de. (http://www.zdf.de.) I doubt, they will be available in English though.
Vandals: vandalism is a reference to the Vandals and in particular the conquer and pillage of the city of Rome that was attributed to them. However, the pillage of Rome that led to the term "vandalism" wasn't committed by the Vandals (but by a tribe, that I forgot the name). They did march through Italy but finally settled in Carthago and became peaceful traders until they were conquered by Numide tribes some 100-200 years later.
Hmmm... I'll have to improve my high school level German. http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif

The book "Sturm über Europa" by Peter Arens covers the content of a.m. TV-Series. It is again in German though.
