How did Richard I die?[/QUOTE]
From wounds recieved at some no count battle after the Crusades.
Do you mean Harold?
Well, it's believed he was hit in the eye with an arrow. However, that person, as shown on the Bordeaux Tapestry, could also be an ordianry Housecarle.
Find a pic of the battle and look at the one with the arrow in his eye. This book I have says this...
1600 hours: harold is killed and the battle is virtually over. Tradition says he is the man on the left, his ey pierced by a Normans' arrow. MOdern historians challaenge this and using contempary sources, such as the William of Poitiers manuscript, believe it more likely that he is the man on the righ being hacked to death by a Norman sword.
Medieval Warfare. Pg. 62.
IIRC, Richard I was mortally struck by a crossbow bolt while besieging a castle in France.

He was besieging the castle because he heard rumours of treasure there.

Richard Harris, the Lyin' Heart, died in France by an arrow thrown by a one-eyed old craggy guy. I saw it in a movie.

Richard the First did die from an arrow at a seige battle in France, but that wasn't the half of it. From what I heard, he was scrying the castle when some French archer or crossbowman took a shot at him. He was so mad upon being hit that he stormed the castle and took it on the spot.
Three days after the battle (which, from the account I remember, he spent drinking and "partying"), he took sick and died. The arrow/bolt was still in him.
Just what I read.
