I've had it with this :furious3: game. I tell my units to move...well maybe they will, maybe they won't. I tell my cav "you guys better move, those are elephants heading your way"...naw, we'll just meander a little. When they do run, forget it, we're playing with "turbo elephants" that can run down cav across a wide open field for 2 miles. But then, armoured elephants are "routed" by skirmishers cause they can play "dodgeball"? Not to mention my dang archers shooting half my army to pieces.... :furious3: :furious3: :furious3: :furious3: :furious3: I swear I want to throw this thing away....this game has so much potential to suck so bad....

'Stop using Groups' use CTRL controls instead and if skirmishers don't react fast enough turn off their skirmish mode and try again.

Hold down CTRL and click to select multiple units
Press CTRL+A to select all troops
Press CTRL+C to select all cavalry
Press CTRL+M to select all missile troops
Press CTRL+[Double click on unit] to select all units of that type.

Only use Group to get your army lined up at the start and then Ungroup before starting the battle.

Yes don't use all the tools provided by the game and you may actually have more control. This is because many "features" are broken. As for friendly fire you should consider it a trade off for the excessive effectiveness of ranged units in general. Oh, and turn of fire at will and micromanage like crazy while remembering that STW and MTW didn't have this problem.

I haven't been using the group features because they suck. Sometimes I'll use it to just form up but not often. Are the "turbo elephants" a bug? I know "real" elephants can move quickly for very short distances, but these were on the heels of my cav/gen all across the battlefield and actually caught them....and killed my general :furious3: :furious3: :furious3: There is no way they should have been able to keep up with my cav. But then again, why it took so long for my cav to start running I can't explain either. My love/hate relationship is quickly turning to a hate/burn in hell feeling...okay, rant over....whew, I feel better ~:grouphug:
