Good topic, but I almost hate to admit that there is not much on the horizon that I am looking forward too.
The only thing I can think of is Silent Hunter 3. It really looks good and promises dynamic gameplay to make up for the rather disappointing, dated, and highly scripted Silent Hunter 2 that got released a couple of years ago.
In fact my growing lack of interest in new PC release is probably why I am considering a console just because there seems to be such a wide and varied bunch of games available.
Cheers
Cossacks 2
Imperial Glory
Conker: Live and Reloaded
Splinter Cell: Chaos theory
The Tuffen

KOTOR 2
STALKER
Conker:Live and Reloaded (although i'll have to get an XBox)
Cossacks 2
Doom3 expansion
F.E.A.R. - Looks great. Hopefully, plays great. ~:)
others:
Tortuga: Pirate's Revenge - still a trickle of info but looking forward to the ship battles.
Imperial Glory - they better do something with the low number of provinces (53-55, last I recall), the low number of soldiers (2000 max, I think) and the length of ship battles (on the trailer, two volleys, and one ship is already sunk ) :dizzy2:
F.E.A.R looks interesting. Might get that.
Mostly looking forward to the Battle of Britain flightsim by the makers of the IL2-Sturmovik series. New graphics engine, super detailed planes, new game code that will allow huge air battles. Mmmmmm....... can't wait!
Templar Knight

Cossacks 2: The Napoleonic Wars
Imperial Glory
Age of Empires 3
Age of Pirates

Cossacks 2
Expansions of some 2004 games (*cough* CA any work on an expansion for RTW? ~;p)
Heroes of Fallen Empires (or something, its basically Fantasy Cossacks)
HoI 2
Age of Empires 3(Interesting Physics engine implementation)
FEAR
Probably lots of other games.... but anyways most the games are the same as alot of people listed above.
Battlefield 2 - BF2 will pick up where Desert Combat left off. The preview videos look sensational.
Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth - After a long tragic history of their original publisher going bankrupt, buyouts, delays and other nonsense this game is supposed to be out sometime this year.
Rome Total War Expansion Pack - I am fairly optimistic that we'll see the expansion pack released before X-Mas. I imagine Activision gave it the green light after the 4th Quarter 2004/X-mas sales numbers came in... ~;)

You're joking! I'm a massive Lovecraft fan, and I was watching this with anticipation, hoping it would manage to capture some of the atmosphere of his books. I thought it dropped off the radar, but apparently not.
Pretty much just KOTOR 2 for PC, GTA:SA for PC, S.TA.L.K.E.R for PC and Imperial Glory (Please let it be good, please let it be good...).

The Cthulhu game is still alive? Not dead, but dreaming or something like that? ~D Should probably put that on the radar...
Other games:
Dominions 3!
Space Empires V!
A MP-playable version of RTW.
GTA: SA PC version
KotoR 2
Guild Wars (not too high expectations, but I'll give it a chance)
I have a feeling that STALKER will be the next big thing, cannot wait to play it. I am also looking forward to Resident evil 4, and Killer7(I don't even know what kind of game it is but I have a cell-shading fetisj). IF it is released in 2005 (or at all) Bioshock. We are we are we are anticipating.
// cuts off pinkie
How could I forget The legend of Zelda
No joke gents, Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth is alive and well. It was previewed on several gaming sites last year and was supposed to be released in the last months of 2004 but was pushed back to Spring 05.
Ah, yes. I forgot about Stalker!

Nothing much intelligent and challenging on the horizon and I cannot afford a new computer to keep up with software developments so mine would be......
Imperial Glory
RTW expansion

Another one for my list, Star Wars: Empires at War. Its like a total war game mixed with Homeworld and C&C. Go to www.planetcnc.com and read the article about it.
EDIT: The article had to be taken down due to copyright stuff

The article claims that realistic tactics will be used, so the comparison to cnc would be innappropriate. Then again, the screens show things like foot infantry advancing across open fields. I would think that such a move would be a waste, since the large open areas would be dominated by AFVs. Still, it looks like it has potential( Rebellion II hmmmm...)

I'm not desperately awaiting any game but there are a few I have mild interest in: Jade Empire (Bioware's RPG for the xbox), KOTORII, Kingdom Hearts 2, the new Cube Zelda. On the PC I'm mostly anticipating patches for existing games. :blankg:

Advent Rising - It's looking like it's going to be a surprise hit.
Star Wars: Republic Commando
FEAR
It's too early to say much, really.
Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic II is pretty certain to be excellent.
Brothers in Arms looks interesting - a supposedly realistic FPS in "Band of Brothers" territory.
Not sure if it'll be out this year, but the Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion is the only original RPG that has caught my interest (KOTORII is not exactly original).
Brothers in arms
Imperial Glory
Wartime Command ( tactical-level game about II WW with amazing graphics).
Dark and Light www.darkandlight.net
this game is going to rock the MMORPG world and shatter all boundaries, cant wait till april!

The games I'm awating most have to be Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, and X2: The Return (expansion pack for X2). Not much else apart from that, except maybe Middle Earth Online. I've never bothered with subscription games before but I'll wait and see how good it looks.
Now that I have seen this screenshot I want bioshock even more. Glory to the many.

1 - The Movies :director:
This looks such an amazing game. Basically you are a movie director and producer and own a studio. You have to run the studio by hiring stars for movies, paying peolpe to write scripts etc. and of course buying sets and props. Then you get to make your own movies with special effects your own sound effects and voiceovers. You can write your own scripts for movies and do everything really to make your movie a hit. I can't really describe it in its full glory so just go to this site and take a look themoviesgame (http://www.themoviesgame.com). Unfortunately as yet there is no official release date (kinda reminds me of waiting for RTW)
2 - Zelda for Gamecube :elf:
After seeing the movie on ign I was amazed, this looks such an amazing game too and would probably be number one if it was coming out earlier (my opinions will change as this nears release, this is going to number 1 once the movies is released).
3 - Battlefield 2 :rifle:
Battlefield with modern weapons and the most realistic graphics I've ever seen in a game = yet another amazing game. This year is looking good so far.
4 - RTW expansion :rtwyes:
If there is an expansion that will be good but I would rather they worked on a sequel to come out in 2006. (get working CA :whip:)
There are probably a few more but I can't think of them right now (can't be that good then ~;) )
The usual suspects:
Rome Total War Expansion (although Rome Total Realism is making me quite happy at the moment ...)
Battlefield 2 (since Desert Combat is the only online shooter where I can hold my own against legions of highly skilled 14-year-olds)
STALKER (a sort of first-person Fallout, maybe)
KOTOR 2 (big sucker for RP games that feature no elves or dwarves)

Once EB comes out, we'll blow RTR out the water...IMHO of course
Play me at CS then...you won't hold your own...yyou'll blast me away, I am far and away the worst CS player ever, and yes that includes the BF series
I am also waiting for KOTOR II

You guys have left out a major one, but it probably won't be out this year, if things happen like they always seem to:
Morrowind 2 Had a very nice article with pics in the last PCGamer mag. I enjoyed the first one and it was a huge game, and supposedly the new one is twice its size.
Well I for one doubt that Elder Scrolls 4:Oblivion will be out this year. The AI is just going to be awesome.
