I am looking at getting a 19" LCD Monitor to replace my 17" CRT.

I play MTW at 1024 x 768, and would like to play at 1280 x 1024, which the 19" defaults to. I also play a couple of other RTS games, e.g. Civ3 etc.

I have a Geforce 4 Ti-4200 which runs the game well, with all features turned up.

I have been looking at response times and the best vavailable in NZ at the moment is 25ms. I have seen that the 12ms screens are out now in the US. Should I wait for these or get a 25ms, considering I "never" play FPS or "car racing" games, which require faster colour changes.

Other things worth considering are, brightness, colour depth (quality) etc.

Anybody has expeience with slow response rate 19" or 17" LCD playing MTW. I mam considering upgrading my Video card to one with 256 MB so I can play RTW , to it's fullest.

Your comments would be most helpful

a lot of the 8-12-16ms response rate TFT's use 6bit colour (256,00) panels as opposed to the slower 8bit colour(16.7) panels.

i just built a 6800GT+A64 3500+ rig for my dad to play Total War etc on which included a 20ms Dell 1905FP panel......... beautiful. and never a hint of ghosting despite it being tested with Doom3 and Full Spectrum Warrior.

I only use a 19" monitor. I could never go back to 17".

Basic 19" monitors are going for $250.00 - buy one you won't regret it.

It looks as if I can get a 12ms model at the price I want to pay (an LG one at that)

Considering how much time we spend in front of the computers (playing games, etc), and considering how cheap 19" monitors are, we should ALL be using them.

They make everything bigger, and make make playing games far more enjoyable, and are far easier on the eyes...

a lot of sub-sixteen MS screens don't do proper 8bit (24bit) colour, they only do 6bit (18bit) and dither the result up from 256,000 displayed colours to an approximation of 16millions colours.

get a good sixteen that guinely displays 16.7million colours.

this is almost identical, but has a faster (20ms) response time.
