I've been looking for a good book about Alexander's successor in french, but well, let's say I've been unlucky so far ~:handball: So I was wondering if any of you knew a book about that topic, that would explain me clearly who were the successors and what they have done.
If you have any good information about that period (post 323BC), I'll happilly read it (I'm especially interested in the politic situation after Alexander's death)

Someone else recommended Mary Renault's "Funeral Games" in another thread here.
It's just after Alexander died, and the generals, satraps and wives have started the scheming about who is to inherit his empire.

I just bought it. I'll tell you how it is in a few days. ~;)
'the marshals of alexander's empire' by heckel. it gives a brief bio of all of alexander's companions basically. kinda written along the style of plutarch's 'lives' there are dozens of them in the book.
'house of seleucus' by bevan. its more of a traditional narrative history of that dynasty.
both of them i read in english, so i don't know whether there are french versions of them, but they were both informative in different ways.

Eck, this one cost about 65£ on Amazon ~ !! (or 124$ with blackwell.com :dizzy2: )
I'll look for 'funeral games' anyway.
Quite a shame there aren't much informations on such an interesting period (I looked for Successors, Diadochi, Alexander's successors on amazon, but with little results :embarassed: )
If also found 'The Legacy of Alexander: Politics, Warfare and Propaganda Under the Successors', which might be just as good (and it's 'only' 56€) ~
Anyway, I'm still looking for a map that show clearly who owned what after Alexander's death, many thanks to anyone who could help
Not in French, but this is covers what you are looking for: Alexander to Actium (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0520083490/qid=1106035931/sr=1-7/ref=sr_1_7/102-8115722-9818521?v=glance&s=books)
It's over 900 pages and well done.
