I am just about to start a new game with the Greeks
wanted total world domination rather than the normal victory conditions
is there anything I can do to acheive this -
I ask this now - not because I am sure of victory - but I do not want to have to restart the game later

Do you mean carry on playing after the victory message appears ?
If so just quick save the game go back to the main menu and load the saved game, and you can carry on to world domination ~D

Yes - carry on after victory condition appears
do I save the game after the message appears - or when I am just about to claim my last city?

Just don't take Rome. Then you can go on your killing spree and when you feel like you have the world, take rome.

I prefer to take Rome, then leave it to the rebels, that way you dont have to deal with the Senate sending out measly raiding parties all the time, as the Rebels currently are content to sit in Rome and stare at the wall.
