View Full Version : Your life's greatest pleasure
If God asked you what your perfect moment was, what would yours be? The only point being that you have already done it.
(Somewhat hesitantly, I would pass on the obvious - sliding down a pair of satin panties over creamy thighs and seeing nothing but subservience in her eyes.)
Mine would have to be heading out into the back field with my dog at daybreak on a Sunday morning, cup of coffee in hand, and spending a few hours splitting firewood and playing with the dog.
Pure bliss. Perfection. Total happiness.

If God asked me what my perfect moment was, or would be... I'd say proving conclusively that God doesn't exist.

Bearing in mind that I must stick to something I've done, well... not done enough yet to say really, but I'd say - waking up on a Monday morning, knowing that I don't have to get out of bed for a month.

Any moment when i'm in a soccer match, holding the defensive line. Ah soccer matches are truly heaven on earth. Especially when your commanding the defensive and being besiged by a superior offense.

My perfect moment?
Well one of my most perfect moments thus far (because my life is not over yet) would be the final night I spent in Rome last year... I stood on one of the hills overlooking the Roman forum at night (with the colosseum in the distance), all lit up. Also it was a clear cloudless summer sky with a full moon casting its silver glow over the entire ruins. It was a truly beautiful sight to behold.

A fine sunny september evening , sitting on the quayside outside the pub on a small island off the west coast , a rich creamy pint of porter (one of many), with the island musicians playing a session behind me and a pod of dolphins playing in the harbour in front of me . Perfect , a day trip that ended up lasting 9 days . ~

Hmm, a toss up really.
Basking in the warm Summer sun while sitting on polished granite above a small, sparkling tarn in the Sierra Nevada; facing the Western sun as it sinks slowly towards the horizon, beads of water from a chilling swim still dripping down my naked body. Alone and a hundred miles from the nearest civilization, feeling purer and sharper than ever, with songbirds and the wind whispering through pines as my stereo, God's country all around me. Solitude and contentment.

A flowered and fountained patio in Spring time; a long table covered with the finest foods. White linen tablecloth, silver, crystal, and my friends and family, looking so dapper while they eat and chat, smiling all the while. A china saucer of milk for my cat, who purrs as he moves from lap to lap. And it's still early. The finest camaraderie.
***
Aftermath. Shadows dancing in candlelight. Flushed and entwined, slow caresses, body heat. No words; the look in our eyes is everything, the feeling that can't be described with words. Trust; Love; Bliss--something like these. Together, we drift ... .

Man, when I was in Korea, there was this little whole in the wall resturant that served Kalbi (Korean bacon) that you would cook yourself, wrap it in lettuce leaf with some rice and other veggies and shove it in your mouth. The moment that delicious morsel of food hit my taste buds, i was a complete man...
The other time was the time my wife and I concieved our son. When we calculated with the doctor the due date, we figured out which time of "love making" it was. It was a completely freakish time, I won't go into detail, but it would make my fellow Conservatives disown me!!!
Forgive me if this is more than you aksed for, but
When I went to the morning briefing, I learned that I was assigned to take 5 engines and a 20-person crew to the County Line Rd and burn off the north side from the highway to a river.
We drove out to the site and just as we were getting starting the radio told me to stop that and go join up with some guys to my east, at the north end of a subdivision. When I arrived I saw that they were working hard to secure a line alond the edge of the houses, but that they were not going to be successful in holding at that spot. My guys joined in but when the fire hit us it went over and around us, into the subdivision, without even slowing down.
I asked for permission to take my guys and fall back and try to hold at a spot that I had seen on the way in. We drove back through the fire to the south to where a paved road ran perpendicular to the 20 mile per hour wind (from the north). I put the engines out west to defend some homes, and asked the 20-person crewboss to give me his 5 best people. We started out to the east, setting backfire along the north side of the road. We burned almost 3/4 of a mile, the 2-foot tall dried grass along the roadside was exploding like gasoline when we lit it. As we reached the end, racing against the oncoming fire (about 20-30 foot tall flames), just as we came to the city park with ballfields that wouldnt burn the main fire hit us, and the six of us dropped down into a ditch on the roadside.
I looked up and saw flames overhead, trying to jump across the road. I knew that the grass would only burn for seconds, and that we were OK, but the other guys didn't have the experience to be so certain (or foolish) and they were trying to burrow into the ground. Thick black smoke was everywhere, the wind was howling, crazy noises, radiant heat. I had every bit of protective gear on, only my nose was exposed.
I thought that the fire would jump the road over us when a large airtanker dropped 3000 gallons right where we were. The road held and all I could do was stand up and look back where we came from.
The north side of the road was black and smokey, several homes were burning there. On the south side only one home was ablaze, and I called for my engines and asked if 1 or 2 were able to break free and come to it. We had been successful.
Overhead were several helicopters and aircraft, and my radio was going off non-stop, so much traffic that it was a jumble of static and words. I looked at the guys, who were looking at me like I was totally insane. Around me was fire and smoke and all kinds of crazy stuff. Total chaos.
Nothing has ever come close to the feeling of the moment that swept over me. I knew who I was and where I fit in, and for about 30 seconds the whole world made sense.

Hmmm... If God asked me what was the perfect moment in my life I'de say "there no such thing as a perfect moment!!!"
That and also I don't think would be able to speak. Wait a minute, why would god ask me something. I thought god knew everything, lol.
A perfect moment is only perfect when you remeber it. When you are there at that moment it can never be perfect(unless you are on drugs).

My wedding day. We went through a bitch of a time getting married, and we had a lot of hassles planning the reception and everything (since all of my family & friends had to travel 800 miles). But when I turned around, looked down the aisle, and saw my wife holding onto her father's arm.... she looked like an angel that God had sent down just for me, to get me through this life.
In said conversation with the big buy, the next words out of my mouth would be "Thank you".

Hmmm, I can think of a few truly great moments that wouldn't stand a chance in a family-oriented forum. Utterly inappropriate. Let's just leave it at the idea that it involved identical twins, one of whom was a runway model. (I know it sounds like a cliche, but trust me, when you're in the midst of it you don't mind at all.)
I'd say the night after my son was born. Wife and I slept with our tiny son between us, very careful about him. It was as pure a moment of all-out love as I will ever experience. Possibly equalled by the next night, at home, when we added the bulldog to the mix. A bed full of love, hard to beat.
Also, maybe the first time I reached the summit of a mountain. Standing at about 15,000 feet, with the wind whipping in my face, the clouds scudding by at impossible speed, and the earth spread out below my feet -- that was pretty amazing. I remember thinking, "I will never be able to convey this feeling to another human being."

It has to be the day it snowed here. My first snow day ever. During lunch and snack we went out. To look up it was so beautiful. After a few hours about maybe a forth of an inch had accumulated on the ground. It was beautiful, not that it lasted for long. Immediately a snow ball fight started. Officially it was seniors verses underclassmen, not that it really happen that way for long. My hands were numb after scooping up snow with my bare hands for a while but I didn't care. And we got out early to boot. The snow didn't reach my part of the Las Vegas Valley, not that it really matter since not many of the people I care about live near here. I need to live more. Ah, I love you guys ~:grouphug:
I actually read through all of those.
Hmmm, for me...
lol, one comes into mind, this moment lasted just 10 minutes. I was paintballing for the first time. There were about 20 of us 10 v 10. We were in a densely foraged area, I was with my dad, we didnt know what to do so we stayed back and let the other guys advance. We were on our own, suddenly, we heard a group of guys coming. We couldnt see them past those god damn bushes so we got low and waited. Suddenly, out of nowhere, a paintball hit my dad. I was shit scared. He got up, and walked away (showing surrender) but hes a clever basterd. He didnt look or even speak to me after he got hit. So the group thought he was on his own. The group got closer (now at ease), i was still lying on the floor behind the long-grass. I waited until they all came into my view, and dropped all 4 of them to hell with a barrage of paintballs. It was so funny, scary, exciting.
After this, (on my own), i went to rejoin the main group that was way out in front and pinned under heavy fire. I was so confident in my previous move, i felt immortal. I told them to give me cover, i ran like a SOB between the crossfire (paintballs pelting past my ears) and took out a guy camping at a defensive construction.
We went on to win the round.
Perfection. All of lifes emotions in 10 minutes - Fear, Loss, Anger, Vengance, Confidence, Courage, Ruthlessness, Pride.
The moment that I watch in utter fasination the birth of my son. Nothing has ever compared to that - other then as already mentioned the uncondtional love that children often demonstrate to their parents.

Yes... Actually, it's when you've been holding the (vastly supperior) opposition goaless for 90 odd minutes, then you (as one of the more aerially dominant players on the team) comes forward for a corner and scores to win the game.
That's just briliant that feeling. Sometimes playing in the centre of defence can be the most disheartening thing, but there are times where it's great.

Well, I guess there would be only 4(seening as I don't have a gf anymore...)
1. Walking through the woods to the hills at dawn with a sword at my side(makes me feel so relaxed, don't know why), just as the birds start singing...pure bliss
2. Around the TV with my friends, playing a few rounds of games with popcorn, huge cooler of pop, pizza, burgers, ice cream, and AC/DC blasting in my ears.
4. Playing (and winning) hockey or soccer. Duh!
5. Sending my best friend up a tree at a tobbogan party. It happend last year and we still laugh our a**es off about it.
If GOD asked me what was the most perfect moment in my life - I would reply
"They are all perfect"
