An American TV icon. I couldn't count the hours of sleep I missed to stay up and watch his show. Rest in peace, Johnny.

Amen, Brother H.Tito. Johnny's Tonight Show followed my military/world travels where ever ArmedForcesTV could broadcast. For a few years, he was my best (and only)source of current events. I can only imagine what impact a 20-something Johnny Carson might have had on an internet-type medium - maybe something like Jon Stewart?

At any rate: Rest in Peace, John.

Very sad day, but a happy one as well. He brought a lot of laughs into this world, so, even thought it is sad he has passed, its good to remember all the humor!!!

Heeeeeeeeeeeeeerrrre's Johnny!!!

RIP

He was in a class by himself. Thanks for the laughs and rest in peace Johnny. One of the nice things that Dave alluded to was that they are showing lots of the classic bits from his show this evening. It is great to enjoy them again - or see some of them for the first time.

Best talk show host.... ever.

(Letterman was the best before he moved to CBS and turned into a clown.)

R.I.P. Johnny

Johnny (as Carnac the Magnificent) *holds envelope to forehead*

"Sis Boom Bah"

Ed McMahon (loudly) "Sis Boom Bah"

Johnny *gives Ed a glance*

*rips open envelope*

"The sound made by an exploding sheep!"

*collapses laughing uncontrollably*

The world isnt quite as funny or nice without him

I loved time when Johnny was doing his Carnac the Magnificent schtick and the audience barely laughed at one of his jokes and he said to the audience, "May a mathmetician do a number on your sister". I was 8 at the time and finally got it when I was 11. I never laughed so hard when it finally made sense!!! ~D

Hey remember the redneck guy he played with the dumb hat and red plaid coat. The animal stuff was always great too.

This guy was always saying something about coming down to the Schlausen cutoff or something like that.

The great one himself
