View Full Version : Routing direction
Wasn't it the case, CA said, that the RTW game engine preserved the routing directon of troops once they are off the battle map: i.e., if a unit routs off the north edge of the map and survives -- you would see it somewhere north from the battlefield on the strategy map after the battle. Several times, I have noticed enemy units routing off the north edge of the map re-appearing south of the battlefield on the strategy map: exactly the opposite where they should be...
Could have originally been planned but considering the A.I. problems it would not be worth it.

Don't they have to run screaming to the nearest safe area? If so, then the route direction would only be visually applicable if they lost a battle in their own province, otherwise they'd have to head in the direction of their nearest "friendly" province.

yeah I agree on that one too Prodigal , also when I fought a battle defending a ford yesterday, with lot's of phalanxes , the enemy routed ( which they did a the sight of the pikes ) directly IN my pikes.. :dizzy2:
they didn't even think of running back and AWAY from those killer pikes... no they obviously prefered to die for Rome... yes I was facing the SPQR main army, pretty much an anti-climax for one of the most important battles of the game.
