View Full Version : captains
I fought many battles using only captains in hope that someday he will be adopted into my family, But Nothing of this ever happened. How can a captain be adopted? :help:

they've gotta lead an army into battle and then you have a chance to adopt them

It all depends on how many faction members you have, and how many provinces. In my current game, I have about 30 provinces, and 7 family members. Every turn, I get asked if I want to adopt someone, if I win a battle using a captain - I get an offer to adopt him. I've been refusing all adoptions and marriages though - trying to keep the bloodline pure... I did adopt someone at one point, I sent him on a suicide charge, and his son on a one-way cruise to the nearest enemy fleet.

What are the advantages of keeping the bloodline pure? I often adopt captains into my family when im running out of governers. Am i doing something wrong?

nope keeping the bloodline pure is stupid but more realistic i do adopt but give the heir and thus the king status to real family member only example give it only to ..... of Sparta if playing the greeks

Be that as it may, I'm merely doing it to add some spice to the game - having very few family members makes them more valuable, besides, I always seem to have a surplus in my capital anyway - I only need a family member per front of my war, cities ccan govern themselves as far as I care. It's just another way to make the game different when played through again.

Yes, it seems when I'm running out of family members I can adopt capains. I adopted two captains yesterday. Very good fighters.

The Romans often adopted sons into their lines.
I think its fair for Roman factions to adopt heirs.

In my Julii campaign, it's been about 15 years. I've got 25 provinces and 13 family members. I've adopted a garrison commander and 2 men of the hour (captains who led armies to victory) in the past couple of turns. Flavius the Cunning's granddaughter married, but of that generation, she's the only one. None of his grandsons have gotten married, and there are several in their twenties. I don't have any children on the verge of adulthood right now, so maybe the adoptions are filling in the gap. I'm starting to get a little worried about the lack of marriages. I try to have a family member commanding each invading stack, but I was starting to run a little thin in Africa, Greece, and the Balkans until the adoptions.

I'm having the same problems. My generals rarely have children. It's getting hard to find generals to lead my army.

Let them sit in the city for a bit and get them a priest of one of the health gods.
It usually helps a lot.
