Here's a stupid, newbie type of question that I probably missed somewhere. how do I tell what the terrain is in a given area other than reading the description?

Here's my situation: I'm playing HRE. I have armorers and I'm getting ready to build some crusades. In the real world, teh areas I want to go (edessa, Antioch and Tripoli) should all be soemwhat mountainous or hilly. I just want to make sure I'm not sending uparmored units into game world deserts.

All three of those provinces are described as "rock desert," however from any adjacent provinces, you will be fighting on "arid ground," or what you would expect in Anatolia. Arid ground won't give your armored units trouble. How are you planning to attack? By land or sea?

First let me welcome you to the Org Don.

For those provinces that you can see, simply right click on the province and at the bottom of the scroll it will describe what type of terrain you should anticipate fighting on.

With the scroll still up, move your cursor over adjacent provinces and it will tell you what armies crossing from the highlighted province to the one you are pointing at should expect.

Send a spy or religious agent to those provinces that you are unable to view and they will become visible.

As a general rule, the middle east is rocky desert and africa is sandy desert. Lush temperate and arid are all basically the same, except for the amount of rain, which affects ure missile troops.

In arid regions, heavy armoured units are tired quicker. (compared with lush or temperate regions).
