View Full Version : Fastest Conquest of Japan??
I've been messing about playing on the EASY setting lately.
I was amazed to find I'd conquered Japan by 1564!(Any time I've played on NORMAL I take until after 1600 http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/frown.gif)
This was using the Hojo......
They start near some VERY NICE farmland http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/biggrin.gif
Anyone else willing to share their all time quickest conquests??

OK OK
I guess the one-player game is a little old now!
But can anyone seriously remember their fastest conquests?
I have finished before 1560 on normal difficulty. I think I was Uesugi. Hard has taken more time but I can't remember specifics.
The campaign is still my prefered way to play.

I played the game on Expert with Imagawa and I remember finishing before 1570. I have a game with the Takeda and its 1542 and I have all the lands east of Owari except the three Ronin provinces. It took me six or seven tries with Imagawa on Expert to finish the game. The Imagawa are pretty hard to win with. I dont think I have gotten into the 1600's.
There was a similar thread over on the community forum a few weeks ago. Someone mangaged to conquer Japan with Takeda on expert level by 1542(that's 13 years into the game.) He posted how he accomplished it and it seemed possible and if nothing else it is a good read.
My personal best is Imagawa on expert in the year 1556. I've done a few with Shimazu before 1560. I haven't played many Hojo or Uesugi. They would seem to have the best shots at being the fastest.

GULP!
Those are some pretty impressive results!
I guess I'd better get practicing, I'm having trouble making 1542 on the easiest setting let alone expert http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/redface.gif

just a piece of advice jpf... but, if you are going for speed... remember quantity over quality is a very important concept early on, and that the Takeda probably are in the best position for such a task since they start with an extra building (horse dojo) as well as a second castle in the west (maybe of use... depending on how you wish to play)
I personally don't usually go beyond about 1570 (usually early 1560's) before I decide that either the computer or myself has won.
also, I play the Imagawa more than any other clan now b/c they are very fun. They are either the toughest or easiest clan to win with (depending on the game). Often (due to the stupid succession rules) you can benefit from the death of a rival in the east, while concentrating your forces in the west. However, if you leave the east, and no clan dies, then it is a race to the middle btwn you and whoever has come to dominate the east.
The races often end in failure, but they are fun. Also, the Imagawa are a very entertaining clan early on since they start with the beefy archers.
ummmm........ I forget why I started writing this, and I don't remember why I started babbling about the Imagawa, but oh well.
