Forester Warband or Chosen archers. The Sarmatian horse archers are nice too. :charge: :charge:

Hah! Roman Archer Auxilia are deadlier than the Cretans! This is a horrible, horrible direct cheat for the evil Roman conquerors!!! And yes, I vote for them.

Scythian Noble Archers if we are allowing for horse mounted archers. If not, then my faves are the Chosen Archer Warband. ~:)

Chosen, Cretian, Pharohs(when I play as Egypt, wich is almost only in custom battles, if ever).

Forester Warbands are the best pure archers in the game, their missiles do the most damage I believe and they have the ability to hide out in the open.

As for non 'pure archer' attributes they're not too shabby in a melee fight either, even taking into account only their stats and not the primary weapons bug.

Archer Auxilia. Not the best stats, but they're long ranged, cheap and only require a turn to build.
