Could someone from CA or otherwise knowledgeable answer whether there is going to be better support for RTW modding in 1.2?

Depends what you mean by support but it will be easier to have several mods under one RTW install. You can have a folder with the modded txt files and any files missing there will just be checked in the default folders.
