I've read on some topic (can't remember which) that if one attacks Venice on the very first or even second turn with Hungarians (early period), the Italians will retreat. They'll accept peace few turns later! I've tried it and it worked! I've got courios tough... Can that Bohemia with iron and silver be obtained same way?? Well, it can. Also can Austria and Bulgaria. Within only few turns I've expanded from three provinces to seven and on my way to get three independent ones (Serbia, Wallachia and Kiev). The both Empires (Holy and Byzantine) were not happy about me taking their lands, but I've built forts in them and stuck them with 240 men each and they came to me suing for peace! And all that on expert... Within 15 turns I have three deposits of iron, three (or two not sure right now) of silver, two copper, one gold, great farmlanding Hungary and a trading powerhouses Venice and Kiev. :dizzy2:

The Hungarians are vastly overpowered... :charge:

What do you think? Is this sort of playing cheesey?? Do you know of a similar thing?

Not cheezy at all, especially if you take the time to send an emissary up to Poland, maybe send a daughter. The best strategy for the Huns IMHO is to do as you have done, take the trangle from Venice to Kiev to Constantinople. At that point I hunker down and build up, focusing on building navies on both of my coasts.

Ive never really gotten into playing the hungarians, i find them to be one of the least exciting factions to go personally, abit like poland.

I usually just sit there pick off what territory becomes available (usually rebels) and await the inevitable collapse of the Holy Roman Empire or when they foolishly attack me then i just conquer the east of their empire and smash through italy.

I leave the byzantines alone as they usually leave me alone, having territory around the black sea and having a strong byzantium means lots of trade and a massive buffer to the muslim armies of the east.

I love driving north to the sea with hungary, and then crush west into the power hosues of western chrsitan europe. Its magical to see chivalric knghts cut to peices by szekely arrow fire, before being charged form 3 diffenrt directiosn at the same time!
