Problem playing Scythians

I've unlocked the Scythians but when I start a campaign for them and hit the 'Next City' button all the UI and cities disappear leaving just a map and no available UI. The only thing that works is Alt+F4. Has anyone seen this and have a solution? While I could conceivably play with these commands, I use them to often to keep having to restart and reload.

I presume, you meant 'unlock'...

You do that by winning over them or have the AI controlled factions winning over them in a campaign.

Alternatively, I think there is a 'unlock factions cheat' around somewhere.

Un-install. Delete Total war directory. Re-install.

See if that helps. Could just be a corrupt file or such and a reinstall will fix that. If not, it's a bigger, wierder, problem.

P.s. Unfortunately, this method means you'll have to unlock the faction again, but as someone said, there is a method of unlocking them by modding a single file, (tis easy, I have done it myself). Check the mods section of the forums.

can you unlock factions that they normally dont let you play like the armenians?

yup.

what you need to do is detailed in the 'beginners guide to total war'

It's pretty easy.

lets you play everyone, even the senate or rebels.
