sorry if someone allready posted this but i think i know why horses igore phalanxes on a slope if you compare the desc_unit from pre-patch with post patch you'll see that phalanx/spear units don't have the horse/elephant/chariot bonus

i got to go so it will be edited later

Pikes should have hardcoded bonus versus cavalry.

Would be great if that would be it but I doubt it.
AS I understand it that is a combat bonus. Since there is no combat until they are already past the pikes so it shouldn't help. It would go some way to negate the effects of phantom pikes a bit but not completely and it'd still be looking silly.

The unit info is the same for the phalanx units pre/post patch, the anti-cav effect is hard coded for phalangites as part of the stat_pri_attr "spear" attribute. Non-phalanx spear units get mount effect bonuses instead (but not low quality types.) And one unit eastern heavy infantry gets both phalanx and mout effect (probably another unit stat error that CA left in?)

Anyway, something has been done to reduce the effect of cavalry, but it is in the .exe apparently--not the unit stats.

Emperor Umeu 1, you were probably using a mod. Many mods gave phalanxes mount effects, but they weren't there originally.
