Need major help

OK I am competely illetrate at game scripting so if some1 could help I'd highly appreciate it... so basically i want to start with a few questions... Firstable
how do u write a script (meaning... do you make your own notepad file, and just code away.... or do you have to edit existing file)
also i understand that if you want to script your whole game you may need to edit something in the existing files and for a certain type of game make your own script....
but mainly how do you start? where do you edit/create file? and .... well that's basically it... also if there are any subdivisions of scripting i'd like to know them and what they are, so that I won't look like a total ignoramus later....

When you say scripting, do you mean modding, or scripting to give the game commands?

If you mean modding, I suggest you work out what you want to do, then check out the guides forum to see how to do it. If you need any help on a particular point, just post and I'll try to answer.

Well I'm not sure, doesn't scripting to give commands to the game part of modding or can be part of modding?
