View Full Version : which mod just makes things harder?

I appreciate all the time and effort modders put into their work, and then share it with the rest of us (especially since I myself have no clue ~;) ). But a lot of mods seem to either change very little (some specific issue), or go all the way and completely change the game. Personally, I am just looking for a mod that changes as little as possible (love 1.2 as it is), but just makes things more difficult:
- I like the idea posted elsewhere of eliminating the possibility to produce lower level units (e.g. peasants) as a city´s development progresses, should make for higher tech AI armies. Btw ~ to the one who came up with that!
- Some factions need stronger starting armies to last longer and be able to present a real challenge. Carthage is a good example, fighting them as the Scipii its usually tense for 5 - 10 turns, after that its really just a mop-up.
- Any unit balancing that may be needed (haven´t played 1.2 enough to comment yet).
- Remove the green arrows of the selected unit (has nothing to do with difficulty I know, but would be nice to have it included in any mod as these should never have been in the game in the first place).

I do not care much for, nor object to, eliminating not entirely realistic units such as wardogs, screeching women, etc (I will simply not use them, but if the AI does I don´t really mind).

Well, did not mean to turn this into a wish-list, but would just like to ask if anybody knows of any mods (post 1.2) that are already out there and more or less do just this, make the game harder without changing too much?

I think there is a way to do this mentioned in the 'Beginner's Guide to Rome: Total War' in the guides section of the forum. You might want to look there.

Parcelt,

Send me a list of what you would like done to a custom mod for you and I will take a look. Doing some of what you are asking is pretty easy i.e. no peasants after certain building levels. Best would be private email on this forum as I am sporadic on this board.
