or at the very least cruelly scarred. And thats about that. Really annoying -2 influence penalty but offset by excellent and perhaps excessive +8 hitpoint bonus. Now I like using my family members because of their good units and influence in the field ( not to be mistaken for the influence attribute) but this is just stupid. Steeee you pid.
Well to put it plainly its crap.
Is their a workaround or mod to lower the frequency of this attribute?

Oh and for what its worth

V1.2 is much much better and yes it does make the original look like a beta.

The fact the horse archers is dodgy is ..... dodgy. How crap are the QA guys? answers on a postcard to Activision.

Through the little weaks made I have noticed resulting AI imrovements as a side effect which is good.

I can finally use testudo effectively and often do!
Brill.

But I also want more family members. There does seem t be a plateau reached beyond which my family just stops reproducing. This can lead to a period of 5 -10 yrs without any kids. Rubbish.
More family members should = more kids.

And

I want to adopt ANY good captain or at least have an option.

I think the team at CA lack designers with vision.
( waits for repercussions of comments).
But the main point is this scarface nonsense

I think the team at CA lack designers with vision.

The Total War series is nothing if not a triumph of vision. It would have been very easy and very typical of the industry for CA’s design team to produce games that are so much LESS than the Total Wars have been.

Take CA to task for any nit you like. But not their vision. The “vision thing” they got.

The triggers for this VnV group are:

When Adopted 17% chance
When Married (into the family) 17% chance
After battle where general has lost 1/3 or more of his hitpoints 30 % chance

This last one appears to be tested twice for Romans...

The recent troubles with generals scarring too much arose from a simple problem: CA got a condition backwards. The GeneralHPLostRatioinBattle condition was clearly meant to take a value from 0 to 1, with a higher number meaning more HP lost. What it actually means is exactly the opposite—higher numbers mean more HP remaining. As such, the triggers are backwards, and generals get a chance of becoming scarred if they end a battle with more than 30% of their HP remaining, rather than 30% lost. Unless you're in the habit of sending your generals on suicide missions and they're in the habit of surviving, this basically means that the trigger is checked every single battle for every general. This problem also affects the Berserker line of traits and the Shieldbearer and Heroic Saviour ancillaries. Thanks to CampFreddie for discovering this, and see here (http://www.twcenter.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=21549) for his fix.

(And yes, Romans do have double chance of getting scarred. This is another bug.)
