Yes this!

http://pc.ign.com/articles/587/587262p1.html

Dynasty Warriors + Strategy in ancient rome and greece (differing time periods)!!

There will be 4 playable civilisations, Rome, Egypt, Persia, and Greece and 4 minor (non playable) who are the Barbarian - Gauls, Assyrians, Babylonians and Carthaginians.

Its like RTW + AoE but the gist is you get to play a hero from a 3rd person prespective like in Dynasty warriors, you can do that in Multiplayer too, where one plays the hero and the other takes over the strategy aspect which should make this game pretty fun.

6 out of 8 playable heroes are announced, they are Achilles, Alexander the Great, Julius Ceasar, Germanicus Ceasar, Cleopatra and Ramses the Great. Probably the campaigns will revolve around these heroes, i dunno.

WATCH OUT though this game is not for historical gits becuase apparently the heroes are dynasty warriors style guys weilding 2 handed hammers, or rapid shooting bows, so yeah no need to complain about accuracy ~;p

Although the carthaginians are a minor faction its weired there is no playable pre-marian roman commander... maybe they are involved in another factions campaign or something.

anyways thats all i have to say, if you have anything else i'm pretty much free for discussion, so post away!

If they get the 3rd-person perspective implemented well, that will provide an interesting twist to the genre. One wonders how they will render Cleopatra...and who the other 2 heroes will be. Hannibal?

Yeah if the camera does not ruin the whole thing it looks good. Thanks for telling us about it, I did not know about it before.

Whoa... Scanty clad cleopatra i think (images section)
I think games are going off too much on a sex... drive (is that a good word for it?).

Kukrikhan: The carthaginians are not playable so that rules out any carthaginian general unfortunately. But apparently the last 2 will be persian heroes..

Saw this last night on Bluesnews. I'm a bit wary about the actual number of troops in battle as well as the how the campaign map will be played.

Some units do have some nice antique look to them. I bet though that the campaign map will be small. Two things they have to do:

- numerous provinces.
- numerous troops.

It looks like a good game. I like the scale, the ships and walls are really big. The naval battles look great, maybe CA can learn from it. By the looks of things you can board and ram enermy ships.

The 3rd person mode should be interesting, especial on ships and assaulting walls.

The article says there will be more info about it next week.

It certainly looks good. I wonder if the troops will have morale and fatigue. The super hero bit I could do without.

This game has the potential to beat out OOT in position of best game of all time. And I don't say that lightly.

It is definitely a game to watch as it develops, but I saw a few arcady things in the video and the screen shots. I though the elephants in RTW threw men too far. In the video, one guy went flying like a home run shot - "He's outta here!" And in the first(?) screen shot at IGN, the ship in the background is out of the water except the stern - it looks like a power boat going to full throttle. Nit-picky stuff fer sure, but other games with high hopes have disappointed us before, so I have a little skepticism.

Having said that though, it will be interesting to see how it all comes together.

This game looks silly. Not only are the models poor graphically but also cartoony. This could never compare to RTW. Cleopatra looks hott in it but I doubt there's any historical evidence for that.

Gregoshi looks like the ship was caught by the crane on top of the wall if i'm not mistaken... i did hear about a greek invention that flipped ships but i'm not sure what it is or i can't remember ~;p

Oh yeah and looks like the greeks and macedonians are lumped as one again. Can't wait till they reveal the romans though.

RTS shi*e by the looks of it, but some of the screen look preet good. Archimedes hooks grappling shi[ps out the water, but go to the second page of screen and look at the galleys ramming each ohter. Beautiful!

Good news, then. We'll get to learn about some Persian culture and history - maybe they'll introduce Kaveh, the Blacksmith.

Ah, thanks faisal and Catiline. I thought the crane chain was just behind the ship. I didn't know there were actually devices like that back then.

I was cheking out games at IGN, when I found this nifty topic, about a game being developed that to me looks like a typical Total War game (not that there are many), http://pc.ign.com/objects/729/729470.html?ui=gamefinder. The screens look decent, maybe a bit more chaotic than RTW, and naval batlles(!!!). What do you think about this?

Oh, nm, just noticed other topic.

It looks as though we'll actually be able to zoom down into the body of a legendary hero of the age and join your troops to fight and use special powers available only with the heroes. We're assuming that the whirling bit of sand in the video is a demonstration of this power.

That right there might have killed it for me. But that is an assumption from IGN. How many generals fought in every battle just like Alexander the great did? Then again look at the power of RTW's generals. I'd tone them down in unit size but that'd only hurt the A.I.

Sorry to spoil but it looks like just another AOE or EE to me, with heavier makeup on the face.

Nope.

I do respect your opinions mouz  , but whats unique is the action parts of the game (controlling the hero in a FPS-eque mode or Dynasty Warriors mode). however it does look like an AOE game, but you have to admit the naval battles sounds rather promising.

Yeah,

I really really look foward to leading a ship charge in a ship and knocking people overboard, and then shooting them with arrows when they're in the water.
