View Full Version : Does the AI ever destroy buildings?
In an effort to make the AI more challenging, I am thinking of adding temples with powerful bonuses to some factions. Problem would be that if they take a province with a pre-existing temple from another line, they won't get the bonuses.
SO the question: would the AI destroy a temple in an occupied city in order to replace it with a better one?
Thanks

I doubt it. However, with 1.2 they can now upgrade the temple to the appropriate one of their own type when the next city type is reached (I don't think we could do that before...but I might be wrong.) I don't think I've ever seen evidence of the AI destroying a foreign temple.
On rare instances where I have lost and recovered a province, my temple is always still there. I seem to see the same when I come in conquering provinces that have changed hands before I arrived: foreign temples.

I note in RTR that the ai doesn't destroy buildings just builds extra of the different "group" factions. (eg. Romans built Legionary barracks whilst old Greek Barracks still present. If you had different faction "versions" of temples then the ai might build these whilst leaving the old ones there, but I'm not sure this would work. In any case I've never seen the ai destroy useless buildings.
