Hey all
Did anybody found out (or maybe Jerome already has the answer :) if the stats for ship types (not the ones in export_descr_unit, the other ones) matter at all? Are they important, or can we use the same ship type for every naval unit, and it won't matter ?

The only ship stats that matter are the ones in export_descr_unit.txt -- the autoresolve treats any shipboard engagement as an attempt to board, with an attempt to ram beforehand. The chance for a successful ramming attack is dependent only on the admiral's stars, after which it resolves the two sets of men as being in a head-to-head fight (ie no flanking), using the soldier stats from the unit type description. It does allow for a second ship to join as a flanking attack, but not a third...

So engine-wise, the stats do not describe anything about the ship, but only how good the soldiers on board are?
And what does succesful ramming do? Automaticaly sink the ship?
