View Full Version : the Patch/protectorate function
Does anyone know if with the new patch the "become protectorate" in diplomacy is working? I want to know before I try it so I dont wreck my campaign
thanks

it works great.
they ( your protectorates ) actually pay you tribute , and don't attack ( as in backstabbing you ) the amount depends on their money situation ( they alway's give something )
also nice to see the AI try to get protectorates. in my game Gaul was a protectorate of the Julii and armenia was a protectorate of Scythia.
also th e AI now listen's to your offer, instead of giving you the " our free dom is precious " line, which is better than just waiting to be destroyed rather than live...

Sometimes the AI goes a bit far in trying to make you their protectorate. In my last Macedonian campaign I kicked the Greeks out of the Peleponessos, and the Scipii conquered Syracuse, which basically left them with Pergamum and Rhodos, right?
All of a sudden, a Greek diplomat walks to my capital. I think: aha, they'll ask for a ceasefire... No, no: "Just become our protectorate and we'll forget our differences".
Yeah right
