You'll need to be a ltiitle more specific than that if you want some help ~:)
Do you actually have the game or are you enquiring about it before purchasing :dizzy2:

No problem. ~:). You have to construct buildings in able to train and get units. Always turn on your advisor, since you are new to the game (the lady that talks). Double left-click on your settlement, you see possible building(s) you can make. Right click with your mouse to see what the buildings does. There is also a button there called "building browser" to see what kind of buildiings your faction can make.
If this isn't clear, read more of the manual, come back once you have more questions :charge:
Also, don't forgot to go through the "Prologue" campaign first.

Everytime you upgrade your unit building buildings, you get a better troop.
Never use peasants in combat, and the same goes for the militia or town watch (unless you are average-expert at the game).
It takes practice to use the javalin throwers - seen as light infantry - missile usually.
So use normal infantry instead of them till you are used to them. If you are playing Roman then that would be the Hastati. But not that they also can use pila (another kind of javalin) so that makes up for it.
Again if you are playing Roman - advance your archery buildings to produce archers asap, as they are alot more useful than javs...
If you dont already know - dont charge you cavalry head on with most infantry. Try to hit them in the flanks (side) or in the rear. Pin the enemy with you infantry before doing this to maximize the effect.
There are many areas of this forum with great tips for the beginner, have a browse cos its still quite useful for even good - great players.

In the RTW Guides section of the forum, there is lots of good info. Try reading the Beginners Guide first, should get you started.

he doesn't want help, he just wants a pointless thread among the hundreds of intelligent topics where people who want to ask about units can come. but wont cos the thread will die and no one searches for topics...

Hi julii caesar !!
I can understand your enthusiasm - I felt the same several years ago when I started with MTW ~D
Don't go screaming up the tech tree too fast - I understand that rapid development of cities can lead to high squalor (IIRC :dizzy2: ) and that in turn leads to public order problems. Not good !
I also echo Quietus - play the prologue.
I'm not sure if their are any unit tech trees for RTW like there were for MTW - does anyone know ~
If there are, take a look at them and work out which units you'd like to play with and maybe formulate a building plan to be able to field your favourite armies - just an idea.
Above all, play around with the game and find what works for you and what you like.
Welcome to the Guild too ~
PS @ Lord Preston: nice way to stay a Junior ~;)

Well, I would point that the different Roman factions do have some different units, but I think you're just having fun with the smilies.
I am a relative newcomer to this forum as well and, like yourself, didn't really understand everything at first. So I read through some of the topics and the very helpful RTW guides and then, after a while, I realised I was able to answer someone else's query, venture an opinion of my own or add a further question to another topic and so I started replying to other people's threads. And their reaction has always been favourable and productive.
One day, if I discover something of enough significance, I might post a thread of my own.
So julii caesar I would suggest, if you want to become properly involved in this forum, you read through the guides and some of the other topics and look for one where you think you could make a real contribution. (My first one, for example, was about the pros and cons of British chariots which I had some experience of in my own campaign.)
Once you have that bit of experience under your belt, you'll be able to tackle starting your own threads with a lot more confidence.
:bobby:
BTW I was going to go into a whole young Julius Caesar anecdote here about his time in Spain, but I think I'll play with the smilies instead.
