Has anyone else been at peace with the rebels? I got approached by a rebel diplomat (didn't know they had those) who offered a cease-fire. Sounds like a good deal to me - no devastation of my lands anymore.

even if they have, you can't. yuor at war with them forever.

Apparently not according to Somebody Else's post.

Personally I think I'd take the ceasefire if offered by a rebel diplomat, as you say, Somebody Else, it would be well worth not having to worry about devastation from rebel stacks.

I suspect that sooner or later I'd be at war with them again, either one of their stacks would grow big enough that they'd feel they can take one of my settlements, or, more likely, I'd decide I just have to have one of their settlements, perhaps finishing off my prefered borders.

yes but that's with that particular rebel tribe, not with all. you have senone rebels, samnite rebels, and soforth

No, all rebels - the diplomat was near Patavium, but I'm free from banditry all over the place. Dunno how they got the diplomat - I reckon it must be one that the RTR people forgot to remove from the Brutii or Scipii slots (chap's called Secondus)

Hmm, I wonder if I can approach the rebels and ask them for a cease-fire, one of their stacks, I mean.

I'd post a screenshot, but I can't be bothered.

Was it possibly a leftover from a destroyed faction?

Yea seeing as how there is only one "Rebel" faction known as the Slave faction, being at peace with one of them would undoubtedly lead to peace with all of them. Think of the little names they get as added flavor rather than distinct nationalities and loyalties.

I didn't think 'Ceasefire' appeared as one of the options...

Has this only happened in the RTR mod?

Rebels rule. I'd ally myself with them if I could. Better yet, I wish you could play as the rebels as a faction in the campaign... that'd be awesome... you can only hold like, a certain amount of cities at any given time, so you'd have to keep moving and pillaging and all that good stuff... plus their faction color is the best... every unit looks better in beige... PLUS you could have the widest variety of units available... ah...

Well there is a cheat to play them... Can't remember it, but I think you can mod them to be playable.
From what I have read it is a rather different experience, with little armies here and there, no money at all and interesting mixes of troops.

I think it's a leftover.

I've seen rebel diplomats (former Seleucids, to be exact.) but they're arrogant and refuse to negotiate with me (no options except bribes ~D ) so I just assassinated them.

Holy crap, that's awesome! Where can I find this mod or whatnot?

Wonderland if you want to make the rebels playable all you need to do is go you RTW folder and go to data/world/map/campaign/imperial_campaign. In there you will find a file called desc_strat. Copy that file and put it somewhere safe eg your desktop. Now alter the file as below and all factions including the Rebels will be playable. If you play as the Senate do not look at the Senate tab, it will crash the game and I don't know how well the game works playing as the Rebels. Or you can download a make all factions playable mode at TWC there are a few.

Have fun
