I've noticed that AI ships in a blockaded port seem to frequently manage to escape past my cordon, meaning that I have to break the blockade to go chasing.

Its a pain in the ass.

Blockaded ships should have to do battle with the blockading fleet before they can escape.

Actually what I think is happening is that the AI does attack but then withdraws & thus get moved away.
That being the case, there should instead be a high chance that they withdraw into the port not away.

Have you blockaded the mouth of the port? I'm thinking you approached from the side and the AI doesn't distinguish it as a blockade.

BTW, I did the archers grouping and they seemed to be wonky. I had to click on them individually to make them fire correctly.

Also, whenever they are on fire-at-will, right click drag is the pits. They stop and keep firing.

Surely there merely needs to be the blockade fency thing to institute a blockade?
Can't say I've specifically plonked the fleet infront of the port.

/myself has seen AI fleets 'row' across dry land to escape.

Don't know about you peeps, but I find that just 'amazing'.

item: had several greek fleets penned into a fjord; zones of control not only directly adjacent to 'them', but several other of MY fleets further out to sea on the same 'channel' of water.

Sorry bstds just fled away, leaving my ships out of movement (adjacent ships), had to hunt them down with the fleet units stationed at the mouth of the fjord.

WTF, over? Took considerable effort to hunt their azzes down, tho I will note that ONE attack at a time wears out thier movement, and eventually even your weakest fleet-unit will do the job.

Likely bug then. And that AI ships doesn't know a blockade but only those red borders. So if the sides aren't all covered, they can still pass through.

It occurs to me that it's always been quite difficult to blockade a port effectively, to stop anything getting in or out. Not that it's necessarily not a bug, but it's not completely unrealistic, even if it is.
