Hope this is the right place to post this... but here it goes:
Just read a preview of a game that seems to be based on the concepts of TW but aiming at taking it all a few steps further:

Among other things it includes naval combat!

If I am not mistaken, it shows a device developed by Archimedes in the defense of Syracuse against the Romans!
It remains to be seen, of course, if it ´ll even get close to RTW, but it seems like a good try, introducing some interesting new concepts.
I especially like the inclusion of naval combat, perhaps this means that in a future TW game by CA it can no longer be ignored (please)?
