Its fun being the Brutii.
Having raked in all Greek cities on the European area, I turned to carthage, and whuped thier militia and Iberian hides to Hispania. Now, I have begun to concentrate on Dacia, Thrace, and Macedon.

However, I decided I needed to make the civil war that will be coming a little more interesting. So, I'm gonna invade and conquer Spain, give it to the Scipii, raze Gaul, and give it to Julii, and take a hunk of Balkans for myself.

However, my problem is the Macedonians. They are a saint in the eyes of the Senate. Should I take them to war, and eradicate them, or protectorate them?
Dacia its gonna be German, and Thrace will become Brutii, but Macedon is tough.
Should I or shouldn't I?

When in doubt take them out. You are going to have to eventually. Might as well make it happen now.

My policy is to allow people to live as long as they are amusing, non-threatening or strike my whimsy. Such as me allowing Carthage to live while they make no expansion as I play the SPQR. I give them money when I have it but they are there mainly to keep the game going for as long as I want and to give Egypt something to do.

Oh I think they helped in oine naval Battle!

The Brutii are no doubt fun to play. They have a fine starting position (within striking distance of rich provinces as well as central to the map).

Currently, I'm assaulting Fortress Scipii in Sicily (and they had a lot of stacks). I landed my second best general and went gung-ho, immediately besieging Messana. After ending my turn by clicking the button, I was attacked four times!!

I crushed the first army. I thought "great". Then I was attacked again by another stack. Crushed again! The third time, I had to retreat, but another butted in and attacked me the fourth time. I couldn't move so it was a fight-to-the-death situation.

The army had a lot of cavalry and mine were so reduced in strength. The AI mass-charged my cavalries at the flanked and routed them before I can help with my general and another of my cav at the right side.

I eventually routed the enemy cavs with my general but my right flank has crumbled and my center is being assaulted. I tried to save the center with my general but he was sideswiped by a mass of troops including the enemy general.

Needless to say, he died and my whole center of two mercenary hoplites and a principe with two archers and a slingers at the back buckled and routed.

Whew! that was great! He will be avenged! :charge: (BTW, it never happened to me before, the AI attacking four times while they calculate their moves after pressing the button! I couldn't even recombine my soldiers before the battles ~ ).

i always love playing the brutti i mean the units i use mostly are the hastati and the equites along with a few mercs to back them up with the general i used but i have to say they are better roman faction then out of the three.

Playing on H/H I find Brutii to be my favourite Roman faction. They are great to play but I would disagree with use of hastati and auxilia (basic melee units) I always go for principes and legionaries when available. The extra morale means that the enemy do not instantly rout you when they attack you with any decent units. Also, consider the bonuses of the temples. You can get amazing incomes.
