I used to play Medieval total war frequently, but stopped for a while. Today, then, I tried to start a new campaign. The game worked perfectly up until the point at which it was loading, then the screen turned black and it crashed to the desktop. This has happened several times, and since I've long since thrown the game box away, I can't register for online technical support. Has anybody here had this problem, and if so, do you have any suggestions on how to fix it?

Thanks in advance!

Does anybody at all know where I could get some help?

Well, there is a more tech centered forum on this board, maybe you should check it there, too. This is called: Apothecary

Also, you supplied very little information about your problem. Most of the times CTDs are caused by bad drivers. So update your drivers if you have changed anything since used the game before (or changed machines, etc) With some video drivers it is NOT the latest that works, but I am unsure which ones are these (NVIDIA?). I am sorry I am not particulary good at tech things with computer.

Change your drivers, check other threads, search the forum and be patient.

Welcome to the Guild and have fun!

As bretwalda suggested, your drivers may be the issue. If you have a NVIDIA graphics card, and you have upgraded your drivers since you played MTW the last time, then that's likely the problem. I'm using version 56.64, which works fine for me.

Thanks for the replies!

In the apothecary section, I made another post detailing the problem, along with some system specs from the dxdiag.
