What happened with the library?

Everytime i do something, even just clicking on it in the library, i get a message like: you're banned from the forum, but i can still log in. ~:confused:

I saw that every thread exists twice there :dizzy2: , and that the last post was years ago.

This is very weird, seems the forum is having great tech. problems there and you'd better not go in the library. ~:eek:

The duplication is an artifact of the moves we made last year, when converting to different Bulletin Board software. Different back-ups, from different sources got blended together - but not everything merged correctly.

As to why your access is troublesome: I don't know....but I'll look into it. Do I understand you correctly: You cannot even read any of the posts there? Or cannot reply?

No, not a crime ~D . Clicking a member's name should bring you to that member's profile page. It works for me, but I'll switch to my "test" account & see if there's a problem.

Answering your first part: The Library is meant as a "read only" archive of accumulated knowledge about the games, much like actual books in a real library - where the stern librarian would be unhappy if you wrote comments on the pages.

My suggestion is: if you see something there that interests you, and you would like to discuss it: copy it (or quote it), then paste it in a new post in the appropriate game forum (for example the Sword Dojo).

Hello drisos,

No permission to post is not a ban message. The library is actually a left over from a very old board. That board gave serious performance hits when it became big, the host shut it down and we had to do serious pruning. Some topics were interesting enough to store, so those were moved to a library. Those were read only and we're keeping it that way.

I'm quite unsure about the use of having it now. At one hand it's a neat concentration of information and those old topics would probably get lost when moved to the STW/MTW/RTW forum, on the other hand it should really be just there and open.

This is my 'test' account, as a Junior Member. I also could not start new topic, or reply - as it should be.

I clicked "Cheetah"'s name and got his profile page, so I am guessing that when you tried doing that, we had a hiccup of some kind. It seems to be working as intended.

i didn't get the 'ban' message anymore when clicking on names in the library, so there's no problem left!:afro:

well, long, long time ago we indeed had a stern librarian who thought that he would short out and categorise all the useful threads and then make it accessible using the "Table of contents" threads ...

however, I am afraid that we have lost this brave fella somewhere ... so indeed these days the library is just a depository of old threads. :cry:
