The kind that kind off packs into a ball around the doodoo and forms lumps from the urine, making it easy to scoop out and neutralizing a lot of the smell.

A public service announcement. If you have cats, do them a favor and use "silica dust free" cat litter. We have switched to just such a product called Feline Pine. Regular cat litter was making our cat sick, sneezing & hacking, because he was breathing in silica dust. I would notice this when I cleaned out the litter box and added fresh stuff. I am sure that, over time, breathing in this silica dust could lead to serious health problems. See Adrian, your thread isn't silly spam, but could lead to providing info to better care for a beloved pet.

ouch...

Its always the way, even for Soly and the rest of us it is always the daft threads not the ones we think are 'cool' that do the best (bar the babe thread)...

I use Oil-Dry products for most spillage incidents - but, in a pinch, JonnyCat litter (also by Oil-Dry) works pretty well.

The ability of clay-based products to soak up and nuetralize a wide array of liquids is legend....even biblical.

http://humferier.free.fr/sav/pikachusgoodbye2.gifIt's good practice in taking a (silly?) premise, and turning it into a viable topic for discussion. "Silk purse from a sow's ear". It's what we do. Verbal kung-fu.

Thanks for the training run.

Cat litter isn't just for cats either. Its pretty good at mopping up engine oil spills too. Thought the brand doesn't seem to be important for that so I guess this counts as being OT. ;-)

no, actually it's quite useful: I hadn't considered the silica dust issue - I know I inhale a lot of it when I change their litter boxes, but for some reason I didn't think that it would be an issue for them too (duh).

and since I'm not happy with the current one anyway, I see what other people are using so I can give it a try :P

so no, don't lock it.

A friend of mine is a cat expert, I can ask her what experiences she has.OK, I give up.

I umm, I have two cats, a 1 year old mother and a 3 weeks old kitten.
And we use, um, cat litter.
It's called Albert Heijn Houtkorrels and I believe it does a good job. I eat it when I'm out of food, and I occasionally smoke it (hey, I'm Dutch) and we fix holes in the walls with the stuff.

Can we, um, can we lock the thread now? :wacky:

Anyway, I'll see if I can get something that's better for me and kitty next time. NCG is still good for oils spills ~

I used to use Scoop Away but since the only cat left in the house isn't litter trained, the dirt patch next to the back gate is now my litter of choice.

Have you guys ever seen those toliet trainers for cats? Its a device you put on toilet that has litter in it and the cat eventually learns to use the toilet!!! Its pretty amazing. I don't like cats though.

Hahaha ... funny thread (just got back).

NOT a funny topic to me ... I have to care for 3 at the moment (one mine, two my brother's; he had 3 until recently but one kicked it).

I like any kind that DOESN'T STICK TO THE BOTTOM OF THEIR FEET AND GET DRIBBLED ALL OVER THE HOUSE SO I HAVE TO VACCUUM 3 TIMES A FRIKKIN DAY!!!! GAAAHHHH!!!!

I love cats. Just wish they didn't pee and poop so gol damn much. "Smelly Cat" should have made it to the Top 10.
