View Full Version : How do I alter the default unit size/scale?

Hi all,

I read somewhere that it was possible to change the Huge unit size down from 160 to 120 - so the progression in unit scale would be 20, 40, 80, 120. I'm afraid I can't remember who mentioned they'd modded their game in this way, but I'd very much like to implement this change myself.

If someone could explain in small easy-to-follow sentences how I could go ahead and make this change, I'd be extremely grateful!

Thanks in advance.

So, anyone have any ideas? Or is it so mind-numbingly obvious that I should be ashamed to ask? Hey, call me paranoid...

Go to preferences.txt in your root RTW folder. Find UNIT_SIZE and adjust it to whatever number you like, up to 160.

I have mentioned this a few times so it mgiht have been me that led you onto it. And yes, Simetrical said basically what I did.
Went in there and changed 160 to 120. Units are now more maneuverable and less taxing on the population, while at the same time not as demanding on the system and still fairly large.

Excellent! Thanks very much to the pair of you! So, it really was obvious! I spent a while trawling through the text files in the DATA folder before I posted- I totally forgot to look in the Preferences.txt... D'oh!

Kraxis - yes, it was your posts that lead me to ask this question - I tried the search tool but couldn't find any mention of it.

Right - off to play some 'extra-large-but-not-huge' RTW. Thanks again for helping me out!
