View Full Version : Prologue skip

I've just installed RTW on a new PC and have lost my saved games from my old PC (stupid of me, my fault!).

I have completed the Prologue and an Imperial campaign previously on my old PC. I've read on this forum how to unlock factions without completing a Imperial Campaign but the file "imperial_campaign.txt" is not present, possibly because I haven't played the Prologue on this new PC, and having done it before I don't want to do it again.

If possible, how can I skip playing the Prologue so that I can make the changes to "imperial_campaign.txt" and then go on as Carthage to give the Romans what they deserve!

Any help (even if to tell me it can't be done) will be much appreciated. ~:)

Thanks.

I have read (but haven't tried, so can't confirm) that you can go into Prologue, as if you will play it, make a single move, then exit...freeing you to play other campaigns.

This apparently also true for most mods (which often require a clean 'new' install of R:TW).

If that works, please let us know here. I'm sure many new members would like to know the answer, as well.

That is possible, as it is the way I did it when I first got RTW. Just go int the Prologue, hit the esc key, choose exit, then go back into the main menu. In fact page 9 of the manual tells you how to do it, which is how I knew what to do.

There is another way which requires a very little modding by yourself, that is to do the following go into C:\Program Files\Activision\Rome - Total War you will find a .txt file there called preferences (not the folder called preferences) open up the file. Look down the list until you find the line FIRST_TIME_PLAY, if it says :TRUE after it change it to :FALSE and save it

Yes, found out from Total Wars FAQs and just did it - as you say, start up thr Prologue and press "Esc" to exit and I can now select the Imperial Campaign to play.

Thanks for your help ~D .
