The pig and dog resources are not working. Icons for the pigdogs exist (it is the same icon), and in world/base there is a list of provinces that are supposed to have them, but they are not listed in the imperial_campaign file. Anyone who wants to implement them as they are in world/base, or in any other distribution, will have to manually place the icons on the map in their campaign file.

Also, the Marian reforms still occur far too early. Perhaps CA should make the crossing of the Alps by the Germans and the beginning of civil war conditions- though the first of the reforms predated the social wars by a decade or so, they were only a 'working solution', and the professional army may have required 'consolidation'!

"The men of the First and Twentieth Regiments were ordered to attend a special assembly and told that they might leave their arms behind, because of the hot weather. The Guards cavalry were also ordered to attend but instructed to bring their lances as well as their sabres. I found a sergeant who looked as though he might have fought at Philippi, he was so old and scarred. I said, 'Sergeant, do you know who I am?'
'No, sir. Can't say that I do, sir. You seem to be an ex-Consul, sir.'
'I am the brother of Germanicus.'
'Indeed, sir. Never knew that there was such a person, sir.'
'No, I'm not a soldier or anyone important. But I've got an important message for you fellows. _Don't leave your swords too far away when you go to this afternoon's assembly_.'
'Why, sir, if I may ask?'
'Because you may need them. Perhaps there will be an attack by the Germans. Perhaps by someone else.'"

Not really sure they (the pigdog resources) are meant to be implemented in the game. There are no unit restrictions that use these resources, athough I did suggest it in the unit bugs thread:
https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?t=44097
Instead of manually placing the resources on the map (descr_strat.txt), you might be able to declare them as "hidden_resources" in the export_descr_buildings.txt. Haven't tested it yet though...

The pigdogs are mentioned in world\maps\base descr_regions:

Maeotis
Tanais
scythia
Maeotae
131 89 33
grain, dogs, pigs
5
9

There are no fish, though.

Looking through the vanilla files, it doesn't look like pig/dog resources actually do anything though. They are listed in descr_regions.txt, but the flaming pig/wardog units are not limited in the buildings file. They don't have any trade value either. I've got 2 guesses here: either CA forgot about them completely, or decided it wasn't worth it to clutter up the strategic map with the icons (considering how many regions have the pig/dog resources in the file).

Considering the other omissions/problems in the build tree/units, this is pretty small. To fix it though, I think this would work:

In export_descr_buildings.txt, at the top change the "hidden_resources sparta" to "hidden_resources sparta, pigs, dogs".

Then for the stables, cavalry_barracks, hippodrome, and circus_maximus, change the wardog lines to:

recruit "barb wardogs briton" 0 requires factions { britons, } and resource dogs
recruit "barb wardogs dacian" 0 requires factions { dacia, } and resource dogs
recruit "barb wardogs gaul" 0 requires factions { gauls, } and resource dogs
recruit "barb wardogs german" 0 requires factions { germans, } and resource dogs
recruit "barb wardogs scythian" 0 requires factions { scythia, } and resource dogs
recruit "roman wardogs" 0 requires factions { roman, } and resource dogs
and for the pigs in hippodrome and circus_maximus:

recruit "greek incendiary pigs" 0 requires factions { greek_cities, } and resource pigs
recruit "roman pigs" 0 requires factions { roman, } and resource pigs

*wonders about adding pigdogs as a resource*
Can you imagine the general's speech?
"They will all know fear when the Capitalist Pigdogs run rampant through their ranks!" ~

fish should be counted as sea import/export and not in same range as pig or dog

This probably has something to do with the supply lines and city growth.

Capitalist pigdogs? I've heard tell of an almost-mythical game called Deer Avenger, is it as famous as 'all your bases are belong us'?

Slaves are a resource shown on the map and are in the campaign file. You can get a 'slave trader' bureaucrat as part of your character's retinue. I've not found a 'swineherd' yet, however.

And if a pigdog is flying, is it called a vulture?

Marius was said to have captured the bronze bull of the Cimbri in the battle after he first altered the construction of the javelin. If the Germans had an 'eagle', then capturing it could be a condition for the reforms.
