View Full Version : Centenarian!
No, I don't mean centurion. ~;) It's been my experience through this game that family members rarely make it past 70 years of age. Most of mine have died in their early 60s. A few died in their 50s. So, a habit I have developed is that once a governor or general reaches about 50 years of age, I start having a replacement standing by. Well, in my current campaign, my faction leader just went on and on. He's still alive at this moment, and just reached, well, see for yourself:

...And the guy looks really good for his age!! ~
Impressive, indeed. Hey, Quillan, do you still use him in the battlefield:duel:?? for that would be quite an interesting show!!
And he has picked up a number of good Traits as well.
Expert Miner, Farmer, Pillager, Spy Master, Master of Assassins, Superior Builder... All quite hard to get in one lifetime (or just good to have in case of the two masters), but then again he has had to lifetimes.
So, are his children beginning to die off of old age? Some must have. And his wife must have croaked a long time ago.
I bet he is alone at his level in the family tree.
Well, Julianus the Killer does look like a certain Star Trek character. He's an alien! ~ ~D

Brilliant! (Guiness comercial anyone?)
I bet he falls on his sword due to dismay.
He is really a dirty old man too!
I just stopped playing for the night. He's still alive, will be 102 if he makes it to the next turn. He's got one son who's still alive (at 73), and one who has died of old age. He has a 30 year old great grandson, so might even live to see a great great grandchild born. I don't recall if there is anyone else alive on his tier of the family tree. He was the oldest of that generation, I'll have to check.

Guess I won't bother posting the pic I took of my 87 year old FL the year before he died. Can't have Julianus the Killer putting him at the kiddies table. ~;)
Ok, I checked. He is the only living person left from the second generation of the family. Here's what the family tree looks like currently.

just for kicks, you know, you can save and reload in case he dies. just reload, change a few things (move him around a bit, switch some retinues, whatever, then save again and THEN reload that very same newly saved game. the random seeds will have changed and so he might live another turn. again, just for a laugh. otherwise, you'll be encountering the infamous AI-siege-lifting bug.
Very interesting how the Scipii family from my last campaign looked very similar to yours. Grandad Julianus was 95 and the only one alive when I won, the portraits of his oldest grandson and his brother's youngest son were the same (my last faction leader and heir, so I remember), and the third brother also died without kids.
Probably genetic. Every bald members died earlier. ~ ~D
Hey look, his son ain't bald either! ~;)

lol look at his traits... i guess its true the good do die young cause this guy was no saint. blessed by satan to have an extrordinarily long life of death, conquest, and large breated mistresses. ~
if you moved his entire retinue to the great grandson who lives longer? retinues seem to die with there generals so if always moved can you keep good retinues going forever!!!

Yes you can keep a good retinue going forever if you want. I sometimes shift a retinue once or twice and like to think of it as the old guys passing down new knowledge.
Yeah, Julianus was an adulterer, deciever. Sounds like a great guy.
He is the hugely superstitious old guy down the table sitting with to his grandsons' wives and yelling curses at everyone for not being as good as the last generation.
Well, Julianus the Ancient didn't live through the winter. He died in the spring of 206 BC, just before reaching the ripe old age of 102. I've got another family member up in the mid 80s right now, and will have to see how far he goes. I can't help but wonder if longevity is different for each faction. The Scipiones sure seem to live longer than the Julii.

Talking 'bout his traits... "adulterer"? Ha! Well think about it, he's 100 and still rulz, why wonder he stopped fancying her antic wife, 40-50 years after marrying her? ~D
RIP, anyway, hope he had fun until the end ~;)

What does the Blatant adulter do, increase or decrease his influence? :) This guy sounds like the one who married Anna Nicole Smith.

Btw, when did his wife die? And how old was she?
Very impressive btw, I've just about hit 80 before. Usually I don't expect anyone to live much past 60.
I just had a battle with my 87 year old Alexander the Conqueror. And yes he killed plenty himself. ~D
Talk about vigour.

My faction leaders never get to be above 65 or so, I always get them killed in b attles or they are off campaigning and do not have access to aqueducts, which I assume increase their life span, but I may be wrong. Almost all of them die in battle, either intentionally to let a new leader take their place or unintentionally fighting against the odds and allowing their army to live, at the cost of their life.
