I am sincerely sorry to do this, but I did search and I couldn't find anything on it. I was wondering how many people feel that two years is an awfully long time to train a unit of anything, and three years for a boat (if my memory serves me correctly) seems too long also? Has anyone changed this in anyway, and if you have is there anyway that you could tell me how to do it? Thank you.

There is a whole section of this forum on modifying M:TW (Mod'ing).

I'm not completely sure (since I have not gotten involved in it yet), but based on the title, this forum (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/forumdisplay.php?f=18) looks promising. Try posting your question there.

Well, I know that forum exsists but it seemed too slow to get a response. But I did post there anyway, so if anyone can help I will check both forums.

If you consider that trade can make a ton of florins, so much money that it's really too easy to win, then I guess the 3 years wait is probably balanced.

Now if in real life some guys told me it would take 3 years to build a little boat, I'd look hard at replacing management down at the shipyard. Maybe a nice Cog could take that long, but . . .

The other way that I look at it is that although it takes me 3 years, it also takes the AI 3 years, so the number of ships is effectively 1/3 what it would be if everybody built a ship every year. Since the naval battle part of MTW is so weak (compared to the fully developed land fights) I'm glad that the naval aspect isn't any more important or time-consuming (which it would be if there were 3 times as many ships floating around out there) than it is already.

Some of the units that take 2 years, like Varangs, are quite powerful and the build time reduces their number and adds balance.

But I cannot see why it takes so long to build artillery. Same thing as with the boats, if my guys took two years to build a Treb I'd use them as test material for the first launch.

If it took my administrators 1 year to get 60 UM or MS or any other lightly trained unit I would send them out as front troops. ~D
And don't even mention the time it takes to get anywere walking :dizzy2:

It's called game balance. You don't want floods with ships or artillery.

MadSpazz running on large (huge? maximum size) units? By some reason they dubbled the building time for units there.

I realized that I was running the game on the largest settings, thus doubling my build time.
