I hate to burst your bubble but I doubt you will ever be a senior member. I have over 6,000 posts and few of them are spam and Im not a senior member.
You remind me of a Commadus over at .com :laugh4:
A little tip, ask not for promotion, it really doesn't tend to help chances unless appeals are put out for 'we need another mod, list name if interested' etc.
What changes when being a senior member and what do you need to become it? i've seen lots of guys with over 1000 posts who weren't senior members.

Congrats on passing 1000 ByzantinePrince. I have just passed that threshhold myself. I have found that many things have changed, they are:
1: My post count
2: My post count is now three digits
3: I now can post here saying I have passed 1000 posts, before I could not
So many great and exciting changes to become accomodated to. I have no idea how I will ever be the same...........

to be senior member you need to contribute something to the org, guides, etc, then some random admin would give you senior membership.
and you know...money here...money there....
Well one must not troll so much if they wish to become a senior member.
Other then that - you will have to ask a moderator by PM how best to get the status you seem to desire.
heh, so you got over a 1000 posts, I could of if I wanted to...well I could yes but then I'd be a very big spammer and would be taking part in conversatons like this one...damn, didn't see that coming.
I don't get senior membership, as far as I can tell its pointless and all it does is cause a diffrenece between members which can at time breed contempt and rivalry. Which is not good. :dizzy2: Oh gods I can't believe I'm taking this thread seriously. ~:)
Anywhoo, comgratz on the 1000 posts, I would say I'm jealous but as has been oft repeated, "We are all equal in the eyes of the Shogun."

Senior Membership is granted by the staff on an individual basis, it has nothing to do with post count. It's rendered for service to the community. That can range from providing something useful, like Froggy's guides, to being an essential participant in debates in the backroom. God knows why they gave me senior membership, I just made bad jokes for a year and a bit.
On a related note, JAG isn't a senior member? There's something a bit wrong about that...

Jag has a huge spam count and is an aggressive and has a somtimes baiting style of posting. If the mods have to keep warning or pming you you have little chance of making senior member. I was amazed when Redleg got it allthough I feel he more than deserves it. He has always been good but his recent change has made him all that more formidable. Its not how much you post but what you post that counts. Heck I havent had a warning in so long I forget what those yellow cards look like. Im stil not a senior member though. All I can do is keep plugging away ~D Maybe someday when my spelling and grammar improves I just may make it. ~:)
LittleGrizzly
03-15-2005, 00:24
i don't think not being warned is enough, to the best of my memory ive never been warned.
theres a few i think should be senior member who aren't but im probably a bit more lax on them.

Senior Member is an Honorific (http://www.merriam-webster.com/cgi-bin/dictionary-tb?book=Dictionary&va=honor) , used to recognize members' contributions to the overall good of the Org.
Two or three times a year, staff considers where we are, where we're going, and who among the membership has helped in that journey. Post count doesn't matter much, contribution does (there are Sr. Mbr's with less than 400 posts, and Members with thousands).
Senior members get a slightly larger PM mailbox, a title under their avatar, free beer at my house (none have shown up so far), and the publicly displayed respect of a grateful ORGanization.

Sorry been very busy sorting out many rojects over at the net, I do believe 1000 posts does not make you a senior member, but the posts you make are read by numerous higher members here and they talk whether or not to make you a senior member, so stay clean, dont spam and make really useful posts and show your honor and you will one day become a senior member :)

TW mods, guides, that sort of thing.
Hello,
Creating guides etc is not the only reason for becoming Senior Member, nor is creating it a guarantee for becoming one (hostile argumenting, putting others down, no I'm not talking about jokes where people can laugh with each other, co-creating problems and then 'crediting' others for it). Not creating guides, organizing things, but contributing to fun, fair, honest and civil discussions in here will be rewarded too.
Not having a Senior Member account doesn't have to mean that you're not good enough for it, as only a couple are handed out a year.
Does this system have cons? Absolutely. Egoistically talking for myself: it increases the administration of the board by lots, just because the account type exists. On a more important level: it creates a us vs them attitude. Ironically, as it was originally created to counter that.
Is this signature ok for you Tosa?
You should not be bothered whether you are a normal member or a senior, there is no more/less respect for either rank and you will be respected for being the person you are in this great community.
I would like to thank Tosa now for the great work he does here as I feel I have missed this point in the long time of which I have been a member here now and wish him the best of luck in the future with his life and the site.
I've always liked the idea of Senior Members, to me it's a way of recognizing the best of the best, those folks who enhance the community in outstanding ways.

I ask this delicately, and politely.
Why is your post count important to you?To me (I know you're not asking me, but I just want to give a different reason to Craterus') I consider the post counts only because they give me more pics, in which I still search for a better one than my current one. I'm looking for Greek generals (corresponding to my name), which take, I believe, 400 posts.
Thanks Antiochus IMO that's a valid reason.
@ Craterus
I guess I find the idea of posting just to get your post count up or being proud of your post count or your post rate is pretty funny. Its not a race, but whatever makes you happy.
It does seem odd that something that seems so important is also unexplainable, or at least the importance is unknown even to you.
Like Myrddraal says its quality that counts
Craterus

I didn't say anything about you post quality, I think the folks here can make up their own minds about quality.
You frequently post about your post-count, and seem to take a great deal of pride in the number of posts you make each day.
I just don't understand post-count pride and was wondering why it was so important to you, so don't make anything else out of it.

Oh and me! ~
If Jag continues posting at his current average rate, and I quadruple my post count (to 8.28) in 10 years I will catch up to him (at approximately 32,000 posts).
If he could sustain his current prodigious rate, in May of 2015 Craterus would have over 136,000 posts.
In the light of these figures my plan is to creep along and try to make sense with each post, a truly humongous task
