A while ago I started a campaign with the Scipii something wierd happened. I had cheated lots so I had 10000000 denari. When I went to Rome (leader of senate not there) with my diplomat it came up with bribe on the screen. I clicked it and it wanted 10000000 denari. I gave it and i got Rome ~:) the the next turn the senate wanted it back ~D when i didn't give it back I started a war. :charge: :duel: :charge:

Aswell as that Rome was their only territory ~ I don't know how I bribed it! :embarassed:

That is indeed weird. IIRC, you shouldn't even get a bribe option when it comes to Capitals.

If you still have the game, negotiate with them again and ask for a province. See if they have other provinces.

bribing cities you can do allways. but not if the Heir/King is in it

I just talked with them and they don;t have other cities. Now they are walking around Rome for some reason. ~

They are acting really odd. Just if you want to know i'm playing un-modded 1.0 version ~:)

Aetius, be quiet. It's not a bug. The AI just isn't that clever to realise that their in big doo-doo if they give away their last city. CA can't help it if super AI that's actually capable of playing RTW hasn't been made yet.

Samasama, download patch 1.2. Usually when the AI loses all its provinces they turn to rebels.

I've also tried bribing a stack of 4-5 young, rebel, ex-senate generals (with the intention of making them governors; IIRC there's not even an option.

I'll reload and check the conditions myself.

I downloaded patch and started again. Like before I cheated to get even more money and now it still lets me ~:) My next goal is to bribe the Carthaginian capital ~

Too be honest, I wouldn't blame anyone here apart from yourself. The AI probably uses a perfectly good equation to value it's cities, which would put say Rome, out of reach of anyone unless they have cheats.

As soon as you start using cheats you are going to introduce ridiculous variables into the system, and the logical extension of that is that there will be weird results.

From tests, bribery can be argued as a function of projected income:Investigation of Bribery Costs (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?t=44293) I haven't tried yet if it is the same for cities. But it is straightforward when it comes to units.

If he does money cheats, I'm not sure if the computer uses that as a basis for projected income. Basically, the higher the projected income, the higher the bribes (aside from the other factors that are arguably constant that affects the final cost).

Samasamas, I don't know how to do the money cheat. Can you tell me what it does to the projected income? i.e. Write down your projected income, do the cheat function then write down the projected income. And also how do you actually use the money-cheat? (so I can test myself).

Thx ~:)

Capitals are'nt suppose to be bribed, but how it was countered was by increasing the capitals price to an uber amount. On very hard campaign difficulty it is possible for the A.I. to get an uber amount and I kept getting my capital bribed away on me.
