Hi all,

Been busy so haven't touched TW in a long time. But will definitely get back in when the exp is released.

Anyhoo, i dabbled a bit with the game again this past weekend, and I have a suggestion for the exp (in case any devs are listening).

Make generals harder to develop!!! I remember in MTW it was quite an accomplishment to have a multi-star general. But in RTW, it's just far too easy. Traits come really quickly, and stars seem to come faster as well. Problematically, the AI doesn't play nearly as aggressively and thus does not develop its generals as quickly. And in SP you can rapidly (within first 2 decades or so) build up a squad of 8 star+ generals.

Now, granted, generals are less important in RTW, so you can't run all over the map with a unit of peasants and a 10 star general. But still, it takes away from the joy of the game to be able to quickly develop such skilled leaders. I personally hope the exp goes back to the old style -- you get a much greater sense of accomplishment when something is hard to achieve.

Wondering if anyone else has similar thoughts on the game. and btw, does anyone know when the exp is supposed to come out? :P

There is known bug that generals which fought in manual combats get higher chances for getting traits, making it easer for human player to overpower AI (since they usually autocalc).

There is partial solution in compilation of fixes in my sig.

I agree to some extent that generals can become great quite easily. However, this is much better than in MTW where you had to win 256 net battles to get an 8 or 9 star general. Sometimes, you just can't fight that many battles, even if you try.

Well, the thing is that the game is very realistic in that by the time you DO get high star generals, your general eventually die anyways.

I personally don't have a problem with the current system, since its very hard to manage to get a general with MANY stars that easily - its a huge gamble to attack superior forces with a general just to boost up his star rating, and the normal battles are far and wide - most AI armies are spread out with only a few units in them and its mostly the cities and invading/defending armies which hold large amounts of troops.

I think that the problem is rather that there is FAR TOO MUCH traits and ancillaries, which make any general stuffed with stat svery quickly. It's not that a particular line of V'n'V is too fast to complete, but rather that each general has a lot of these line at the same time.

If you have a problem with the ease of obtaining stars, try RTR 5.3, it significantly reduces the rate at which command is gained.

Best solution: fix the battlefield AI. Fewer lopsided victories against AI armies equals fewer stars.
