Hello. I've searched the other threads about this but haven't found information that seems reliable. Here's my situation:

I have the original MTW and the original MTW/VI installed. I haven't patched either of them. I'm tired of my rulers dying at age 56 like clockwork, among other things, so I would like to patch up to the most current version of MTW/VI. I live in the West USA and purchased both games legitimately.

What patch should I use to upgrade? Can I patch just once, or do I need to patch step by step, from the first patch released to the most current? Are there separate patches for MTW and VI which I must install?

I assume the patches are available here, but I wanted to get answers to these questions first because I have a very slow connection and downloading will take a llllloooooooonnnnggggg time.

A side question: is there a way to remove certain vice/virtues from the pool so they don't appear, or tinker with the percentage chances of V&Vs in general? It gets really annoying when every other dcent general is a "chinless wonder" or "unhinged loon" ... gah.

Thanks in advance for your advice.

Just install 2.01 ~:)

I don't know how to tinker with the V&Vs but there is the theory that keeping generals active - even moving them around the map - constantly helps prevent them. I don't know if this is correct though.

Thanks for responding Mablung. That should prevent a bogus choice and a lot of wasted time downloading something I don't need.

Darn though, soon I won't be able to predict the pope's death and thus can't use that knowledge in timing my offenses (pun intended) ... wah.

No problem Toga.
You can still predict when the Pope dies, he has a biological clock that seems to be triggered by assassins ~;)
